schools are financed by property taxes so school located in richer areas get more funding while those in inner-city dont get as much. do you find this to be unfair?

No, I don't since those who pay higher property taxes should, indeed, have a better quality of public school available nearby. Besides, most affluent families don't send their children to public schools.

It's fair that's how it's been since the begining of humanity you have to be smart and fit to survive rich people have a winning attitude.

i don't know about that because here in san antonio all the districts get the same amount of money it's how they use it that makes the difference.....there was a lawsuit by some parents who lived in poor areas who fought to the state capital that all children should receive equal funds regardless and they won....because in those days the poor area school had no air conditioning while the rich areas did and that was considered abuse of minors so a law was passed....but if a poor area school has to spend more money of school police....monitors and things of that nature then yes poor area students do get less of an education then other areas....

Yes I do! Lack of education perpetuates poverty. Everyone is entitled to a good education but the reality is if you don't have the money to send your kids to private school your future and the future of your community can be seriously impacted by your public school. Also the social problems that are associated with poor neighborhoods like gangs and drugs really need to be addressed and if schools have the money they can provide things like decent after school activities, good social workers, and in general better opportunities. Better teachers, supplies, good ESL programs, security, all these things take money and all students are entitled to them!

yes, this is unfair. all children should get equal education opportunities...

...though poor kids usually have no motivation anyway. its sad :(

Statistically this is true...

It is not so much about poverty as it is about expectations.

If two parents have degrees the stats are high for children to follow on if one has the stats drop and if neither have then they go way down. In New Zealand where I am from Educational funding is available to all if they want it. Infact the wealthier parents don't get the extra funding that poorer parents do. But does this make a huge difference..... Not really it is all down to expectations.

If you are not wealthy and you want your kids to go get higher education then tell them from a young age that that is how its done.

Or you could do as I am and go back as an adult student and get your degree and show them how it is done!!

Yet the poor pop out one kid after another after another !!!???

While the affluent have fewer kids .

Maybe people should take into account what type of life they are going to be able to provide for their kids before having a bunch.
