I would start to chart when you have pain, and events leading up to it as soon as the pain onsets. You may even start charting food intake and your temperature as well.
Pain in the right upper quadrant referring to the right side back can be a few different things. Gall bladder stones, disease or sludge, many lung issues, chest wall, CHF, musculoskeletal, etc. So the more information you can provide the doctor about symptoms, events, and overall wellness will help them greatly.
Are there any respiratory symptoms? Does the pain get better or worse when breathing deep? Cough? Can you move and make the pain better or worse? Lying down, sitting, standing?
