Cartoons Today that Rot children's brains

Besides the fact that I find Dukey funny, I pretty much agree with everything you said about the show.

For me the worst shows on that list is The Garfield Show (as its a disappointment), but most of all Casper's Scare School. I don't say this about many shows but it's bad art, animation, story, and characters has made me place this as one of the worst cartoons I've ever seen.
I thought American Dragon was better than Juniper Lee (though it's been a while since I've seen it), Winx Club gives me diabetes so I can't watch it, I did like the Proud Family and the thing I hate about SHS is the animation gets really bad and limited.

To be honest, I don't constantly complain about Johnny Test much like a lot of people, or go out of my way to watch it. I actually thought the show was pretty good, when I first saw it on KidsWB, and I still think that season one isn't terrible. Years of seeing the show have made me notice the little cracks behind the show's surface. It's just impossible for me to watch it now, because every single minutia about the show is just so terrible.

I agree with this 100%. Test isn't my favorite show, but I don't understand all the hate it receives.

It's like the people who say things like "All of today's cartoons are crap! The shows we grew up with were 100 times better!" Well, who are we to say what's avowedly crap and what isn't? I know I watched a ton of crap as a kid, we all did. Just because we think most of today's shows are crap doesn't mean that they are; it just means that we've gotten older. Kids don't mind these shows for the most part, and that's all that matters.

Nostalgia blinds us to the fact suck is eternal. Suck has always been with us, and it will always be with us. When today's kids grow up, they'll be on message boards calling the shows the next generation of kids will be watching "crap" and stating how much better the shows of today were.

I don't really agree with this list. I've watched Yu-Gi-Oh, and its not rotting my brain. Just because its not educational or realistic, doesn't mean its trash.

That's what's seems to be lacking in most cartoons these days. Are people afraid that kids will develop a sense of humor, and start questioning what goes on in their world in the hopes of finding better solutions?

Especially
in kids shows. I usually don't mind it when the cartoon really isn't going for much other than gags, but some of these newer cartoons are just so obnoxious with it. Like Fairly Oddparents and Phineas and Ferb.

Phineas and Ferb is one of the better cartoons to come out of Disney, but I feel like i'm being slapped over the head with it's constant wall breaking and Aren't we clever! jokes.

Speaking of Johnny Test, I always that show would be slightly less annoying if the show revolved around the Test sisters and the family. Johnny's just ...there. But I guess without him, the show wouldn't have been picked up because of this "girls are icky" phase executives seem to be going through.

Oh well.

I guess I'm the only person who doesn't find the character of Johnny Test to be that annoying, obnoxious or bland. I don't really think any of the characters are that strong to carry the show as primary characters. I think the show could work better if it shifted to an ensemble show with every few episodes revolving around the POV of a different character(s). But that's just me.

No, they still have 'messages', they just aren't subtle or understated in the slightest and they tend to beat your head in with them.

In that way I can see why they could be considered 'brain rotting' to some.

A lot of the more recent episodes have more involvement from the Test sisters and Mr. Black and Mr. White show up often so it feels more 'ensemble' cast. I admit its a lot more fun than just Johnny and Dukey, even if they have fun chemistry together.

I find Johnny a little annoying and a little obnoxious ... but he's a kid, I expect that out of kid characters. He's also not SO annoying and obnoxious (*coughSPONGEBOBcough*) that I can't bear to see him on the screen. They found a good level of annoying obnoxiousness for him. :)

I dislike the series because the entire concept of it seems to be Johnny being a selfish, destructive brat and everyone around him having to suffer because of it.

A few of the characters in the show can be described as vaugely selfish and unmindful of any set of consequences. The Test sisters aren't exactly saints who have to deal with their annoying brother messing with their experiments. They are often just as complicit in the destructive things that happen in the show as Johnny is. Dukey is just as likely to egg Johnny on as he is to try to dissuade him from doing bad things. Let's not forget how the military in the show is often cleaning up messes that it had a hand in causing in the first place.

Although Johnny's selfishness and other annoying habits probably would be softened in the eyes of the audience considerably if he wasn't the main focus of the show.
