Are there any cartoons that you never actually got to see the first time they were around, but after picking up an episode or two after the fact, you found that you liked?
1. The Raccoons. Having not been a Canadian child (although northern Michigan is basically Ontario, Jr.), I missed out on this one big time. I caught a few episodes on YouTube, and wow. Just wow. That is some deep stuff in the later episodes, and even the earlier, "lighter" eps are great.
2. Biker Mice from Mars. Oh come on, with a title like that how can you go wrong? Seriously, this has an unusual premise, likeable characters, and solid writing. And this is the only time I ever laughed at the line "Are you a man or a mouse?".
3. Ovide and the Gang. I was exposed to this one after picking up a tape of it at a library book sale in a mall so dead its only tenants are offices and a Chinese restaurant. Yeah, it's not outstanding, but it has an odd late 80s-early 90s charm to it. Plus, I think platypi are really cool.
4. Sonic Underground. Non-canonical? Who cares? This one carries the same "darker" vibe as SatAM, and it has a very interesting story line in my opinion. The songs are a bit awkward, but they go down easy enough, and the "music = power" premise is especially interesting to a musician like me.
