Cartoon Series They Should Have Made (but didn't)

So, am I right in assuming that this thread won't end until we've listed every single non-animated franchise that ever existed?

Here's my list:

Cartoons based on sitcoms:

Honeymooners
I Love Lucy
Perfect Strangers
Family Matters

Cartoons based on video games:

Centipede
Millipede
Dig Dug
Bonk's Adventure
Toejam and Earl
Crash Bandicoot
Tomb Raider

Some action shows:

Max Headroom

I have an animation book from the Walter Foster series that stated they had plans to make a Honeymooners cartoons series but it obviously never came into fruition.
I have pics of model sheets.

Feel free to list any suggestions that weren't already posted.

I'll add some more later.

I thought it was because the storyline, about Miyagi, Daniel, and some girl, traveling the world to find a chinese lantern with magic powers(?) sucked. And then Daniel-san's VA was beyond irriating. If I'm not mistaken, it was the same guy who voiced Wheeler on Captain Planet.

I never understood why there was no attempt for Crash Bandicoot to be made in animated form, in neither the United States or Japan where it was extremely popular. It's no where near as popular as it once used to be, but it still leaves me to scratch my head. I mean hell, it got about three different official manga in Japan, one of which kept being publish for nearly 4 years.

Anywho, regarding the Tomb Raider, it actually did get made into a Net Series online. It wasn't that very long, but I guess it would count as an actualy Cartoon Series.

As for me? I've really wanted to see an animated form of Ratchet & Clank. I'm still holding out that one may end up happening.

Vicky the Viking was a Japanese production made by Zuiyo Enterprise, which would later become Nippon Animation. I remember seeing the show being rerun on one of the anime channels when I lived in Japan.

There was one "Hagar" animated special produced by Hanna-Barbera and aired in 1989. I don't remember whether it aired before or after the creator, Dik Browne, died.

I was reading this old thread and I agree with this idea.

Popeye's enemy would be Bluto, and it would be a fun idea to see Popeye, Bluto, Olive Oyl, Wimpy, Alice the Goon as teens, and watch how they would interact with each other. I'd like to see how Popeye gets along with his dad, Poopdeck Pappy. We'd get to see Pappy do some cool stuff like showing Popeye how to fight. We'd also learn why Popeye gets infatuated with Olive Oyl.

We'd also learn what things are like at Sweethaven High.

I think Wimpy would get picked on a lot and Popeye would end up coming to his aid.

Charlie's Angels and Beverly Hills Cop werent exactly kid-friendly (yeah, kids liked them, but it was more the action and eddie murphy and judge reinhold sticking bananas up tailpipes), and kool aid man and chuck e cheese wouldnt even have gotten off the ground since theyre ad mascots (same reason the chester cheetah cartoon never got made).

Not to mention:

- The Lengthy Adventures of John Holmes

- An animated series based on Showtime's Dexter, where he's teamed up with a magic talking surgical knife.

- Queer as Folk: TAS where they're all given superpowers

Or maybe animated franchises based on Will & Grace; Brothers & Sisters; America's Most Wanted; and Good Morning America.

Nah, I've personally had my fill of babyfication/teenification shows. I still haven't gotten the bad taste of Yo, Yogi! out of my brain.

If such a series would be anything like CBS's Popeye and Son, pass.

Tell that to the people who made the Rambo animated series back in the 80's. I could see a Charlie's Angels cartoon working out. I mean, Totally Spies was pretty popular, and it's basically the same concept.

Basically, as long it's action oriented enough, ANY movie can become a cartoon. Rambo, The Mask, Ace Ventura, Police Academy, Karate Kid, etc.

Never saw that.

Popeye and company as teens makes me think of the Archies, now that I think of it.

I guess you wouldn't like Top Cat and friends or The Jetsons as teens either then?

No, no, these should go in the companion thread "Cartoon Series They Could Make (but really shouldn't)." :p (*)

In all seriousness, if you're going to suggest a cartoon that someone ought to make, then at least suggest why (and no, "because they haven't yet," "because I think it would be good," or "because it's cool" isn't enough). There's no reason why this thread can't continue, but it almost certainly won't at its current rate.

May I also remind users that there is not a requirement that all posts must be responded to or answered, and that sometimes ignoring a post is sometimes the best way to deal with it?

All that being said, if someone did for The Sopranos what The Flintstones did for The Honeymooners, I don't see why they COULDN'T turn that into a cartoon. Or put the Sopranos in SPAAAACE!!!! It would be like the seamier side of Planetes.

(*) = NOTE: This is not an invitation for any of you smart guys out there to make this thread, unless you're going to be REALLY REALLY wet-your-pants funny about it.
