Cartoon Series They Should Have Made (but didn't)

Might I inquire as to where you heard this? I hope it wasn't Wikipedia, because that's not the reliable source for info.

And once again, I must ask, "they" who? ABC? The producers of Taxi? Speification, please.

I saw "Man in the Moon"-they mentioned it in there, but I'll look for a more pronounced source.

Fantasy Island would have made a fun cartoon series.

I would have liked a Laurel and Hardy series.

Green Hornet would make a fun cartoon, and so would the Shadow.

Consider yourself among the fortunate.

As Razor from Swat Kats would say, "Bingo!" :D

I especially wouldn't see the point of giving The Jetsons the teen treatment when they already have a teenager in the regular cast, Judy. Just make a Judy-centric series for that.

But these are all hypotheticals for funsies anyway, so that's not meant to shoot anyone's choices down. "Let's turn popular/once popular cartoon characters into babies, kids or teens" is just a type of show I'm in no hurry to see return.

Personally I'd much rather see new ideas with original characters than some cheap retread of an older franchise repackaged by some marketing committee in order to make it more appealing to today's youth.

I'd love to see an Eddie Rips Up the Universe show when everyone's favorite metal-worshipping, prime minister-killing, pyramid, and time-traveling skull head goes through various different points of time to bring the Maiden charm over to the masses. I'd like it to gain 400 episodes in 2 seasons and win 48 Emmy's.

Oh, I also think a Darkhawkseries would be mucho-keen. Chris Powell's story must be seen for those tired of web-head taking over the scene.

The Sam and Max traditionally animated saturday morning cartoon was very well made actually. It almost looked kind of like Invader Zim-school Western anime in a weird sort of way if we're talking about the traditional animation version of it...Very polished and fast paced, if I remember correctly.

Not only has a Sam & Max: Freelance Police cartoon series already been made, but the entire series is available on DVD now. I highly recommend it.

Cartoons based on video game series:
Monkey Island
Freedom Force
Disciples

Don't know about bus driving but as for sewer work... well... Mater-Eating Lad type powers...

Yeah! I'm glad you brought that up! I loved that show! I remember seeing that over at Amazon like a month or so ago. It just appeared on my screen out of nowhere, in my "From Amazon" recommendations. Honestly I think they should put it back on TV, on Adult Swim or something, kickin' it Pee Wee style (Ha!) (the Freelance Police version, not the Gametap one). That would be so amazing if they did that! Like, one of the coolest things in the world. In the meantime, the DVD is on my To-Purchase list. I remember adding it to my Amazon Wish List.

LOL.

Stretch Armstrong the series.
Beetle Bailey
Foxtrot
Hagar the Horrible
Blondie

Maybe Ralph could drive a bus that flies across the sky like in the movie Sky High.

Maybe Ed would have night vision and filtration powers.

ROTFLOL.

Maybe when Ralph tells Alice "to the moon", he could literally send her there.

The Jetsons as teens? How would that work? Judy and Elroy couldn't even be in it, and neither could Astro or Rosie the Robot because it was Elroy who found Astro and Rosie wasn't hired until after George and Jane settled down and had a family. The family didn't even have any wacky neighbors like The Rubbles, unless one counts Henry, who was obviously older. A Teen Jetsons series couldn't happen at all unless it was George, Jane and a cast of OCs.

I agree with Silverstar; I'd prefer to see a new series with original characters as opposed to another series built around the theme of turning established characters into babies/kids/teenagers.

No-I was serious.

Laurel and Hardy cameoed on Scooby-Doo, but their antics would translate well in a whole series.

Fantasy Island would have been fun if they made it for kids.

Green Hornet and Shadow are two costumed crimefighters in the wake of Batman, and it would be fun to watch as an animated series.

They made Batman-the Animated Series and it appealed to an older audience-they should make more comic detective series like that.

There was a Disney cartoon that Greg Weisman planned but didn't get to make. Here's his comment on said cartoon:

Infact, here's one of the plans for the show:

Pretty interesting, but since Disney doesn't use any of their classic characters (aside from preschool programming), here's hoping they could go for the comic format.

There are some logistical problems to Fantasy Island for kids. I mean, what meaningful things do kids really fantasize about. It would all be riding down slides made of chocolate and things and there would be no romance or meddlers fixing people's lives.

Green Hornet might actually get an animated series if the new Seth Rogen movie is successful and is true to the source. I think that's a year or so away, though.

I'm not sure about a Shadow cartoon, at least not for kids. You know the Shadow is a stone killer, right? It would have to be heavily altered.

Yeah, and like all of the Looney Tunes movies up to that point, it was nothing but a compilation of old theatrical shorts tied together with umbrella wraparounds under the guise of a contrived singular "story".

What, if anything, does that prove?
