car audio system help?

I have never bought anything for my car and i don't know what i should get. I need to know what is needed for a car audio system and how to put it all together. I don't know what any definitions mean either. except watts
 
all right. first of all. i would do some research on what everything means. (aka asking questions on here.) But the basics of what you need are your Head unit (in dash stereo) your amp your subs and an amp wiring kit. you may want to try talking to a car stereo professional for more questions. there is a lot involved with installing a stereo and some things can cost you a lot of money if you make a mistake.
 
The basics are a HU (radio), and speakers. For better sound, you can add an amp to power the speakers. Then you can add subs and an amp to drive them.
