Hi, i have a car audio setup as follows:

power cable has a ANL 100 amp fuse running to a
10farad batcap capacitator (inphase)
this powers :

1 juice audio 2400 watt amplifier for 4 6.5" component speakers
and
1 inphase 8000 watt mono amp running 2 12" 3000 watt subs (1000w rms each)

what i want to know is, i will start using the head unit to power the speakers so i'm getting rid of the juice audio 2400 watt ampifier

would i get away with removing the power cap and just powering the 8000 watt amplifier through the car battery?

i have a vauxhall astra 1998 mk 4 if that helps?

any help apreciated

thanks!!

You don't need the capacitor, but the capacitor will help all your lights from dimming in your car, also the capacitor helps give the amp a more constant power, which makes the subs better sounding. The capacitor will also help to protect your alternator and battery, because the stereo system will draw from the battery and the alternator will have to work harder to keep charging the battery. If you take off the capacitor, you may also have to replace your car battery, from the stereo system draining the battery and the alternator recharging it soo many times. I would recommend keeping the capacitor or getting a car audio battery and hooking that up. In the end, if you keep the capacitor you might end up saving money by not having to replace your battery or alternator.

you wont need that cap at all... people may tell you they do alot... they dont. all they are good for is bling, and smothing out current flow... they dont add any power or any thing like that. you would be better off with a second batt. and alt.
