Car audio problem i need help?

ok....my car was fine, my sound was fine, until my amp went out....so i took my capacitor off because something was draining my battery. so after all that i got another amp hooked up but i didnt hook the capacitor up. so now when i cut the volume up it cuts out...like its not getting enough power... today i went and got my cap hooked back up but ....still, same problem. guy at the shop says i need a cap battery....if you need any extra info i will post it....oh, the capacitor i have is a 5 farad, a 3000 watt kole amp, and i have two L7 12's....thanks for all the help
