Can you race a kawasaki klx 140L?

I have a klx 140L and I was wondering if you maybe put an exhaust system on it and jetted the carb or something would it be race-worthy? I have had the motorcycle for 5 months and have been riding on motocross tracks and doing trails but have not raced before.(other than racing friends on their bikes) I want to start racing, but dont want to spend another couple thousand on a new racing bike if I can set mine up to be race ready.
