Can we hook up BEV receiver at the campsite/cottage?

Then why so many people do account sharing ,the only way BEV can check location of receivers is by calling customers and verify ID of the receivers.

The lawsuit involved Videotron and Bell Express Vu...at least that's what they told me in the training! The judgement was that all satellite compagnies should operate the way Bell now does, but I belive since Star Choice didn't personally got sued for that they still do it the old way.

As for the service used in the planes...are you sure they have BEV service? Myself i'm at the residential departement, I woudn't be able to give you the right answer on that as commercial account may have different agreement.

For Dish and Direct TV it is forbidden for them to use it as soon as they cross Canada border, since Dish and DirectTV don't have the broadcast rights in Canada. This policy applies whether you use the service during a vacation or for permanant user.

The police "bust" I refered to that happened in Quebec involved some people that were actually paying for the service... Lots of them were Latinos that came here and never taught that what they were doing was illegal. They had bought the receivers in an official store, they were paying at that store the service each month, but the bills were being sent in the USA to people the store arranged with since they have no broadcast rights in Canada.

They want you to have a permanent address and the receivers connected to the phone line. All of which would be impossible if you have an RV unless it's parked in your driveway.

And again, they don't care! After the third time they speak to you they will place an order to get all your receivers but 2 disconnected. And at that point only a positive verifiation of the receivers could get them reactivated.

It doesn't really matter when you get on their list that they have to call you 4-6 times, or that they call 4-6 different account. A call is a call! And again, they ae not paid by call or by number of performed verification, but by a rate per hour

The rate Expressvu or Starchoice would have to pay is $0.55 pr month (55 cents) to let you have a open receiver on your account at home and the cottage.

That still is the law, only in backward socialist states like North Korea and Canada. Not in the U.S.

The U.S. is a free-market free society that allows its citizens to watch whatever TV they want, but Canada is not!

You know Agent Express V there are thousands and thousands of people ripping off Bell every day. Stop spouting off the company drivel. We are the ones here for the most part legally pay for the service. Lets use common sense here. Oh wait it is lacking at times at BEV with some individuals.

Man oh man...are they ever tight... they really try to nickle and dime us don't they..... I can totally understand if you are not the owner of one of the two locations that you have a dish installed....but if you are? Come on...

The only comparison I can think of is if there was no such thing as Satellite, you would have to get cable and if you have it at two locations, you would have to pay for two locations...

Thanks Falcon btw...

It is, the rule is that if you only have one receiver they don't care where it is. If you have two or more you need to call Bell and tell them you're taking it and they will shut off the rest of them, this ensures Bell's policy that only one residence per sub is live.

They could also change the location ID while you speak with them...that way if you took the info while at the cottage and they call you once youre home and you give then the old info they know that receivers are not with you, therefore will be deactivated

I've never had my receivers plugged in and I've never had a problem. I actually don't know anybody that has theirs plugged in.

Maybe you should pay a call to the SAT group Nimiq 1. My friend worked there for over 5 years. I think he knows what he talked about

So they are asking permission to implement a policy that SC already has in place? Why do they waste their time?

It's a poor use of technology. Anyone wanting TV at a trailer or cabin would be stupid not to go with SC when SC promotes the program and will courier you a second dish for free. The Bell system works fine if you you are in a single person household but with family life today, there are situations where the kids may stay home or the husband goes to the cabin but the wife stays home. I would need two separate accounts? SC charges a mult-receiver fee (or waives it for certain packages) and this certainly covers off any additional costs for the percentage of the population needing service at a second location for the same family.

We certainly could find out if your receivers were taken to another location, even for a matter of just a few days It doesn't matter when yor receivers called last, we sometimes also make manual verification and it could happen that you ca on our list to be called about that right when you are at the cottage

Bell Express Vu used to have many years back a cottage promotion which gaceve the client a dish at home and at the second residence, with one receiver, for the client to bring it back and forth...this was, and still is conform to our policies. If client at the same time purchased a second receiver for the second residene not to have to dsconnect the receiver all the time, we were mentionning that they would have to call us to switch the active location. Iknow that this policy was not well re-enforced in stores, but it always was there. By signing the service agreement you signed on to that policy

It's interesting that Bell's satellite competitor still promotes the service (of taking a receiver to the cottage or trailer) and even gives it a name plus supplies you with an extra (free) dish for the purpose.

You make it sound like Bell is doing everyone a favour by allowing restricted viewing at one location at a time.

are you talking about a cottage or a trailer/motorhome?

If it is a trailer you cannot attach the cable to the cable input on the exterior of the trailer - thats because in all likely hood that cable gets split where it connects to the amplified tv antenna on the roof - you will either need to run a separate line (i did) or bypass the antenna - if motorhome some have a separate connection for a Sat feed.

As far as I am concerned, I am paying for the service and I will take my receivers anywhere I want, no matter what BEV, CAB, or the CRTC says. Why hassle subscribers that are legally paying for the service. They should be more concerned with hackers and the lost of revenue from this.

The reason that I went with American satellite years ago was because of too many rules like this with cable companies. If they are not carful, they will push people to go grey market again.

Why would they disconnect my receivers if they speak to me.?

Now my dear you are talking total and utter garbage......
