...for my car? i have a 2002 pontiac grand am, stock stereo system. i was told to get speakers that have no more than a 60 watts, but then other people say it's okay to put 200 watts speakers in since that way i wont have to worry about blowing them. i noticed you can get 6x9 speakers that put out 200 watts each for like $50. but when i look for ones that have a 60 RMS range, they are all over $100?

are these any good?

I didnt really wanna spend that much, i just wanted something that was like $50 that would sound good, but would it actually be worth it to spend the extra? i dont understand why speakers that have less RMS range are more expensive?
ho bout these ones?

Your friends are wrong!
If you really underpower your speakers (that is--supply them with lower wattage than rated) you will damage them and eventually blow them or your amp/head out. You're running a stock head unit with no amp, so you're probably pushing 15 rms.

Though a speaker that can handle more watts is generally good, bad speakers often don't use energy efficiently and eat alotta watts (ex-Sony Xplod subs)

Anyway, Kenwoods (and Pioneers for a bit more) are a good solution if you wanna stay cheap.

That's a pair of kenwood 6x9 for like 38 bucks new on eBay - that use low watts. If you wanna jump higher to around 80 bucks I suggest some Boston Acoustic 6x9's - their lowest cost speaker line runs for about that much.
There's also many other brands to go by, but these ones stick out for me and what you need.

Anyway, check out sonicelectronix.com - you can choose wattage there and it's got a good selection. I buy (new) from eBay though.
