Can popular culture make us “Un-American”? Is that what happened in Vietnam?

My question is for a history class I am taking and it revolves around Don Henry possibly being brainwashed by a poem, "IN GUERNICA". And the below questions ...

An impressionable generation of young American college students, like Don Henry, was exposed by their college professors to politically inspired literature like "In Guernica." Was that the right thing to do?

Can popular culture make us “Un-American”? Is that what happened in Vietnam? If Don Henry were alive in the '60s instead of the '30s what would he have done? Did you know that the House of Representatives actually had a committee to tell us what was “Un-American.” Does anyone know what happened then?

Hello.

Your question is so broad and without factual clarification that I can not begin to understand it or supply an answer.

Maybe you can re-think your question and expand upon it and repost.

Why are you asking such a question? Is it some school topic? If so, supply more information also.

Best wishes,

I have been accused of being "Un-American".....yet I served 30 years in the military and fought in two wars for America..... being accused and actually being.....are two different things

Being "Un-American " depends on how your actions impact the security of the nation and other Americans....Before troops were deployed to Vietnam.....war protesters were "pro-American'.....fighting for their right to express their opinion and possibly stop the war.....once troops were placed in harms way.....once our sons and daughters were being killed.....the same actions by those protesters .....in my opinion..... were "Un-American" and got people killed
North Vietnam was ready to stop the war after 1968 ( Tet )..... but false news reporting and increased war protesters caused them to continue their war another 7 years.....this is NOT my opinion.....these are documented facts and admissions by the North Vietnamese
The actions of the bias media and war protesters .....indirectly kill thousands of Vietnamese civilians, Vietnamese soldiers....American troops..... that for me was "Un-American"
