Can i use a cb radio at my house?

Hello. I am going to get a cb radio and I was wodering if i could use it at my home. I want to, U know just talk to other people but i know they are very short distance radios. Do i need an antenna? I would want to talk to truckers also. Would that work? what type of antenna would i need?
 
depending on how many trees are around any where between a 20ft fiberglass antenna and 50ft should do you also have signal boosters
