Can I plug my Ipod Touch into the auxillary jack in my built in dvd player in

my suv and have the sound come..? through my speakers? If so, what cord do I need to buy? I have no tape deck or auxillary jack on my stereo. I bought an fm transmitter but it has a lot of static while playing. Will it work with the DVD player and will I get a better sound?
 
If the jack is for audio, you just have to buy a male-to-male audio cord and connect it from your iPod to the jack
