a friend ive been worrying about recently went to the gyno for her yearly check up. she was swabbed and was informed that she has a yeast infection. so she was given medicine, after it didnt clear up she returned to the doctor to be swabbed again, and they scheduled a follow up in a week. She was diagnosed with herpes via culture test. but between the 2 visits she didnt have sexual intercourse. she is by the way dating my brother who i know was a virgin and had no diseases.

is it possible the test confused the 2? i mean she was tested twice for 2 things with 2 different results.

the doctor also stated it was a very minor case of herpes (not herpes 2 but herpes 1) that was in that area

if it was herpes one, she could have infected herself with it. touch a cold sore on your mouth, and touch your genitals without washing and presto, you have genital herpes type one.
as for the first test, if there was an over growth of yeast, they would not have been able to see anything else growing in culture. Once the yeast was dealt with, THEN they could see what else was growing in culture. No, they aren't confused, the tests are very specific in this instance.

I am sorry to tell you this but she probably has herpes. It is possible to get herpes and not have any symptoms for years after. Also HSV-1 can be transmitted to the genitals. I had the exact same situation. She needs to get treated. Tell your brother to take safety precautions. Just because she has it doesn't mean he has to get it. I have been with my husband for many years and he is still clear. By the way there is no such thing as a minor case of herpes, you either have it or you don't. Once you have herpes you have it for life.
