Can a car radio go bad?

About 3 months ago, my car radio started fading in and out. Sometimes it works fine, but when I am driving fades away and all I have a static. The CD player works fine though. My hubby checked the antenna connection and it is together. So my question is......Can the radio go bad or can the antenna go bad?
