Californication, Red Hot Chili Peppers, 1999 Warner Brothers

Here is a few more tid-bits about this album. The lyrics for Californication was actually penned in 1991 during the writing process for Blood Sugar Sex Magik.

Great B-Sides of the album include: Gong Li, Instrumental 1 & 2, Teatro Jam, Phat Dance, Over Funk, Quixoticelixer, How Strong, and Bunkerhill, which wasn't recorded until the By the Way album and was on a Fortune Faded B-Side.

Crow thats 100% wrong (no offense). I have een drumming my entire life, and been into funk, rock the entire time, and he is very good. Wtch clips of him and some of his demos. Also many old drummers from huge banRAB such as Van Halen and whatnot have said in interviews that he is one of the best modern drummers. Hes deceptivly simple. Not only that but he holRAB all the chili peppers songs together insanely well, and believe me when i say, lota that stuff is not easy to replicate. I have had a tuff time with a lot of it.

ps: watch some of his jams, and bside jams if you get the chance

edit: and hes not a virtuoso because he doesnt want to be, read scar tissue and watch interviews, he doesnt want to be front runner inthe band, and is content where he is

By the Way is excellent IMO and very underrated, but maybe nostalgia is playing a part here. I still can't help but be a bit disappointed with Stadium Arcadium - it feels contrived to me (I know I've said this many times before).

There's nothing wrong with music being poppy, but when it feels contrived, it sounRAB tedious/weary.

I think Cali's production has too much treble.

Why not? It's one of my favorites off the album.

I don't really like banRAB for their lyrics anyway. But if you're gonna rant about "bad teenage poetry" aim for something more deserving, like Emo.

I like Keidis's vocals, particularly on this album, though he's by no means a technical great.

I also don't think Fleas bass playing on Callifornicaton is average at all, just because he's not doing his usual slapping and popping, his abillity for strong melodic lines is especially notable on Callifornication.

I also think Flea is the most talented in the band, though Frusciante shines most on this particular album.

No you went bat**** insane on the ofensive just because a guy used a phrase that you took ridiculously out of context and then of course you insult the band. I think you were just looking for an excuse to be a jerk.

Yeah, but before that they were a funk rock band. That kinda adRAB a little context to what the reviewer said, now dosen't it?

RHCP WERE better when they were on all their drugs, but you have to give them props for cleaning up. Their music before was way stranger, too.
Nice review, too brief though.

Emit and Right On Time, not funk, particularly Emit which is far from funk. The last two you mention weren't even on the album but were bonuses/b-sides. That leaves us at, realistically, about four genuine funk rock tracks. Very funky indeed.

What about me?

I wasted perfectly good disc space for a Pulp album. And I blame you personally.

Worst thing I downloaded since that Rusty Cooley album.

Of course, you wont find me on a pulp thread trying to convince people that they are bad, I just don't like them, theres nothing more to it. So why waste my time? If people like Pulp thats ok with me.

You already expressed your opinion about this album, and if you want to elaborate more on why you don't like it, thats fine. I know I wont agree with it. Review threaRAB are for giving your honest opinion after all.

All I ask is that you be more productive in your criticism, and no I don't consider posting a video of a cat taking a **** to be productive criticism.

I don't like it when people label them "the funkiest white guys in the planet". To me that's just the most stupid-sounding statement of all time. Why do people have to bring race into music discussions. For heaven's sake.
