Bypass T-Mobile G1 Google Activation by PhoneCareCenter

Hello PhoneCareCenter,

can you help me? I have this phone MyTouch 3g from T-mobile. The phone need Activation like G1. Have you a way how active this phone via WIFI????

is this applicable to all ANDROID cellphones?
because I have Motorola MB300 or called Motorola backflip from AT&T that stuck on google account, let me know asap so I can proceed, thank you
 
Hey guys, I've downgraded to 29 successfully, installed the drivers and i have sdk on the computer. The problem is, when I run adb devices, it shows something is connected, but says 'offline'. Like the device shows up 'HT8........' but the word next to it says offline. Can someone please help? =)
 
So i get to step 2 and the USB ADB drivers get installed.

But when I do C:\adb devices

it doesn't show anything... i followed all the steps exactly and i dont see it connected in adb devices. help anybody?
 
So this guide is for people who want to bypass the activation screen on g1 so that they can use the phone.
So does this mean that we can use the wifii to use on the phone for email, instant messaging and other stuff etc ??

I am thinking of buying htc my touch3g with tmobile usa. I will buy the phone at the full retail price so I am not obligated to buy the data plan. The data plan for the g1 is for $25/month. Whereas I have the web2go 9.99/month data plan and I want to use this plan with mytouch. But tmobile blocks the internet access after sometime. So can someone please tell me how else we can bypass this so that I can use the web2go $9.99/month on this mytouch or any android phone. What I think is that tmobile servers catch the imei of the phone and see what phone you are using and see if the phone has compatible data plan or not. If it has compatible data plan it works and if not then it blocks. But I have used htc touchpro2 with the same 9.99/month and it works perfect. I have used the iphone with the same 9.99/month plan and it works perfect.
So please help.

for this u should have a sim with active internet acess and should know ur service provider APN settings


Unlocking and activating the G1 is very simple. To unlock all you have to do is purchase an unlock code for your G1, insert your sim card and enter in the code. Activating on the other hand is a bit more of a problem.

I have read on many sites that the only way to activate is to have a valid T-mobile sim card and use that to activate. This is wrong. There is a much simpler way to activate the G1 with any sim card of your choosing after you have unlocked the phone.

The rest of this post will guide you on how to free and activate your Android phone from the T-mobile network in about 5 minutes (assuming you already have the unlock code).


Step 1

Purchase the unlock code for your G1.

Step 2

Put your carrier's sim in the phone.


Step 3

Turn on your phone. It will ask you for the unlock code. Simply type in the unlock code you got in step one using the keypad.



Step 4

The phone will tell you to touch the Andriod after which you need to setp up a new gmail account or sign in with an existing gmail account. This is the activation process and it will of course fail since we aren't using a tmobile sim in our G1. Move on to step 5



Step 5

After my activation failed I pressed try again which took me back to the screen where I needed to enter in my gmail account and password. This time instead of providing the information press the Menu button on the phone. A nice little pop up will appear for APN Settings. Select it.



Step 6

Now you have a list of carrier APNs showing and they are all T-mobile. Select one and you will see all the Settings for that APN. From here you can either press menu to add a new APN or edit the settings for the existing one you are viewing.



Here is the trick. You need to enter in your carriers APN Settings when you create a new APN or edit an existing one.








If you don't know your carrier's we have built a large list of carrier APNs so you can give it a shot. Are we missing an APN or have an incorrect APN? Simply sign into the site and you can edit the list to help others out. If that doesn't work you may need to call your carrier and ask them for the APN settings.

Step 7

You have now entered in your carrier APN settings so hit the Menu button and select Save.

Step 8

Press the back button on your phone until you get back to the sign in or create gmail account. Follow the steps. This time assuming you have entered in the correct APN settings for your carrier instead of the "There is a problem communicating with the Google servers" error you will get a nice signed in screen.

Congrats! Your Andriod phone is now unlocked and activated running on the network of your choice. You should be able to use all the phone's features and be totally good to go!

That Process is only possible if u have GPRS/Edge activated on the Sim, The Method that I stated is to allow u activate via WiFi.....
 
update terminate update fail ,when try to flash RC 29 .now my phone is power

on bootloader mode going .then try to flash with RC 7 its saying not allowed .


plz help me sir.why phone gone bootloder without pressing camera button and power button.

I downgraded, and got the settings pane opened and turned on wi-fi, but I still get the cant connect to google servers error
 
No, this is not applicable to all Android, not even newer version of G1.

Only phones G1 with old version.
 
extract adb application to my drive c....
install manual drivers ...ok
Without Sim Card,setprop persist.service.adb.enable 1..
but GI no response so i cannot installed adb as interface...

whats the problem sir?

Update: SUCCESS!

Solution - Did it on another computer, but also used drivers from SDK instead of the ones floating around the net.

Hope that helps someone else! =)
