if this is true;

Why have I not seen this in PRINT.?

Can you point me towards these EXACT words on the Bell website, this is all new, never seen this offer before at all, not here in Ontario anyway.

Is there an NI Bulletin.? Please feel free to PM me that #.

So just to understand this statement of yours;

If I cancel my HD for 6 months, I could get, providing it still exists, Free installation of a 9242 AND Free HDTV programming for the next 6 months.?

Is this correct.?

If the problem was reported in the past, even if it has been years, Bell TV will refuse to cover the unit. If Bell TV finds that the damage is the result of a misuse on your side they will make you pay the replacement unit they just ship

It's actually 6, the maximum number of receivers that could be active ina Bell TV account
http://www.bell.ca/shopping/en_CA_ON.Dish-Care/dish_care.details
The plan covers:
Any malfunction or defect that has occurred during normal use of the following satellite system components (except wiring):
Satellite dish or pan
LNBF (Low Noise Block Amplifier with Integrated Feed)
Up to 6 receivers
Up to 6 remote controls
SW21 switch (or multi-satellite applications)
Free pick up of the defective equipment and shipping of the replacement or repaired equipment within 2 to 3 business days (It'a actually 5-7buisness days) Offered on a per address basis. Subscription cost** is added to your phone bill each month.

Dish Care is not offered to BC clients

Also note that when you suscribe to Dish care you are signing a 1 year contract. If you resign before the 1 years you have to pay an early termination fee of 35$

Smartcard is also not covered bythe Dish Care plan

There is a limit of 2 claims per year

Refurbish unit shipped has a warranty of 3 months

Then you would HAVE to pay a minimum of $75 for the installation as you are technically already an HD Customer. I say minimum because you may also get charged for the SW44 if required, etc.

If you have an existing receiver that you are replacing with an HD 6141, for example and that existing receiver already gets signals from 82 degrees, then it might be worth buying, as you would then save $75 for the installation.

If you opt for the 9242, you would have to buy from a big box store to get the SW44 and then run a second line to the location you want it.

There was a promise that the 6141 would become an HD PVR this year with the addition of an ext HDD, if that happens it might be your best bet.

Don't forget that if you decide to Buy, you can always add Vu Care to your System which will cover ALL your receivers for replacement. I am not sure on costs, I know Ex Agent can answer that part.....

Again good info Ex Agent.

I think it is time they updated this part though;

Ever since the launch of the 3200 and 5200, more people have 2 remotes with just the 1 receiver. Then of course the huge numbers of 9200 & 9242 models have increased this number even more.

yes you have to pay, 75.00, unless it is your first hd receiver and you get free installation. this means that even if you had an upgrade for nimiq 2, but you did not have yet hd receiver you will still get free installation because it is a part of hd promo. in rental and only in rental you also get 6 months free hd themes , the equivalent of 15.00/month.

For SD, I would say purchase. Cheaper in the long run.

For HD I would say rent. There are many issues with the HD models right now and well worth the coverage of the rental. No question in my mind though 61xx vs 92xx......got for the PVR and dual tuner. You won't regret it.

You are wrong Bella...

If the customer currently has Chinese programming on his account he is NOT ELIGIBLE to have his HD receiver (even if it will be his first) free of charge
The promo name is NIMIQ 2 FREE UPGRADE, not FIRST HD RECEIVER INSTALL FREE UPGRADE, therefore Max Plus (the programm you are supposed to use every call that suggest what you should offer to the client will NEVER offer free upgrade)

The NIMIQ 2 FREE UPGRADE also applies to purchase clients. If they buy a HD receiver (and don't have an active HD receiver in their account) and didn't had any programming package requiring Nimiq2 in the last 6 months they are eligible. They need to suscribe for 6 months to a programming requiring Nimiq2 to qualify. The rental clients are getting the HD free of charge for 6 months anyways

Incorrect... The receiver will still be listed on your account, therefore indicating you have had the upgrade. Once there is a HD receiver on the account client no longer qualifies for the Nimiq2 free upgrade

I am definintely leaning towards the PVR. I have seen some topics about the new 9242 having quite a few issues with HD. Are these getting resolved do you know?

If I rent, am I tied into a contract of any sort, or can I send it back, say after 6 months if I am having too many issues with it?

3 years I go, I had 2 5900 PVRs Rentals, and requested AOV. I got free installation (this was 6 months into my 2 year contract that I subscribed to AOV).

During this past summer, I bought an HDTV, asked to upgrade one of my 5900s to 9242 PVR. I still got free install + 6 months free HD.

"But maybe because it was a retention deal, I got it free, but there was no mention of this being the reason"

that is the security deposit required for rental program and which is refunded, what is not refunded is the installation charge. I will give an ex:

-if you're renting a 6141 within 1 year contract you can return it even if the contract is not finished without any penalties if you upgrade, renting or purchasing, to a 9200/9242 which is the superior model. now, if you rent the receiver it will cost 75.00 installation+100.00 deposit. only the deposit is refundable. if you purchase you are not obliged for professional installation, so you can install it yourself

Thank You Ex Agent, I also agree that beLLa is wrong, which is why I want a # for the NI Bulletin.

i have a 9242 and the HD works awesome on it, I find the picture really sharp, and I record my shows (heros,prison break, and the CSIs) every week without problems.

I rent my reciever, currently free rental for the first year, and he told me to call after 1 year and ask to extend the free rental.

I think it was because of the retention.

I just like things in black & white and that is NOT something I get from Bell to often.

I will dig in the kids drawing papers drawer, where I put lots of my Express Vu papers for them to draw on the other side. If I'm lucky the papers of that promo, as well as the one about Bell taking the receivers back might still be there.

Not striclty true. The Upgrade promo is for Nimiq 2 reception (OK I know it is Nimiq 4 at that location now but this is Bell you know), so you do NOT need to be adding an HD receiver, just adding programming that requires the Upgrade Kit.

No panic, let the kids draw, it will make more sense afterwards than most of the paperwork that is issued anyway....lol

i am renting a 9200 right now for bell HD and its ok. what i am really wondering though is when they make the switch over to MPEG4 what they will do with the people renting the 9200 whichg is not capable of MPEG4

i hope this is standard practice. im renting a 9200 PVR and it will be useless when bell switches the HD to MPEG 4 and/or 8psk compression
