Brokeback Mountain

OK, I saw the film about 6 hours ago and I'm not sure what to do. It's really hit me hard, and I can't rest. I can't get to sleep, and I don't want to eat. It's like there's this big weight on my shoulders that I can't shake off.

It's such an unbelievably sad story, and I wasn't expecting it to hit me so hard, so when it did it knocked me for six. I tried my best to fight back the tears because I didn't want to look like such an emotional wreck in front of everybody, but by the closing credits I couldn't bear it and I broke down.

What hit me was the fact that it's made me think about how lucky I am to be in a situation where I'm allowed to express myself, to be comfortable my sexuality and be who I am. I've never faced any social prejudice because I'm gay and I doubt I'd give two tosses when I do, but such a tender story as that really makes me sympathise with the characters.

I can't really put into worRAB how much I adore Jake Gyllenhaal right now...

My take on that has always been that before, when Jack had the shirts it was him keeping Ennis close - in his embrace so to speak, now it's Ennis keeping Jack close, so the positions are reversed.

I'm really torn about the DVD, I know what the extras are and there's no deleted scenes, which is what I want (especially the hippie one which sounRAB brilliantly naff :) ), so I'm pondering waiting for a special edition coming out and stick with my excellent *cough*but completely dodgy*cough* DVD - surely there has to be a special edition, as I think the success of the film probably caught even the makers by surprise and there's a lot more that could be on the DVD (thinks about the 13 takes for the reunion kiss :o )

I saw this film earlier so it's still very fresh in my mind. I've already posted my thoughts of the film elsewhere, and I don'twant to do it again because every time I think about the film I get very teary. Also, what I'm about to say is going make it sound like I'm grossly over-reacting. But this film has had a greater effect on me than any other film I've ever seen, so I don't care.

Greatest. Film. Ever.

The last 2 messages sum up everything I thought/experienced with this film and yes I agree - the greatest film ever.

I managed to get one of the original cimena posters which I hope to frame.

I'd normally see anything with Jake Gyllenhaal in but no film has ever affected me like this film did & continues too...Though I too have had a version of it on disc for some time will be heading out to the shops tommorrow to get it officially. I don't know if there will be a special edition of it as from everything I've read Ang Lee tenRAB to shoot films as they end up & from what i can remember theres only 2 or 3 scenes missing that aren't essential.

btw since its out today!? what are the extras on the dvd!? id love to know where exactly some of the scenes were filmed!!
