So, i must admit, even though i've seen this movie three times, i am going to watch it again tonight for a fourth.

It's beautiful, touching and very well-acted. I cried at the last scene when Jack Twist... well, i won't give it away to those who haven't seen it. :)

Anyway, i strongly suggest to anyone who hasn't seen this movie, park yourself infront of a TV and watch it tonight! It's one of the best films in many years and will leave you touched, :o amazed, :eek: and balling like a baby. :cry:

For those of you that have seen it however, what do you think? Did it live up to its hype?
 
This I'm afraid is one of those films that got hyped to the point I stubbornly refused to see it, and have so far resisted any further attempts :D

Put your immaturity aside and get yourself watching' :p It's really good, promise. :o lol

But surely there must be a good reason why you don't want to see it?
 
I can't, I'm too busy being stubborn :D It's not really my sort of thing anyway though, I hate tear jerkers for one thing. I've never seen Crash either :D
 
Love this film, so faithful to the short story (ignoring the fact Heath and Jake are a tad better looking then Ennis and Jack were described), excellent performances from all - robbed big style for Best Film at that year's Oscars
 
yay! I've wanted to watch this since it came out, but no one would come with me, and my (now ex) boyfriend was being very immature about the whole gay thing. I wish I'd read the book, though, first.
 
I put off seeing this as well for a while because of all the hype but I finally watched last year and I have to say it is one of the few films that has made me literally sob. :o The only film that has ever made me cry more is Midnight Cowboy. Both Ledger and Gyllenhaal are excellent in the film, its very well directed and shot and the final few scenes rip my heart out every time I see the film. Beautiful film and beautiful score as well.

It wasn't a book, it was s short story first published in, I think, the New York Times, and later included in a book of the author's short stories - and it's extremely faithful to the original story, most, if not all, of it is a direct lift - the only real difference is, as I said earlier, comparing the descriptions of Jake and Ennis to what Jake and Heath look like
 
It was my third time of watching last night too and, as with my two previous watches, I was in tears by the end. Jake and Heath were both great as were Michelle Williams and Anne Hathaway as the wives.

Truly moving experience for me.
 
i had huge expectations of this film what with the hype!... but i thought it was awful!! i hated Heaths performance throughout, but i think it may have been down to his awful southern drawl.. not worth an oscar nom IMO.. i thought the story was boring and the acting was no better..... i certainly wouldnt watch it again! but if we all liked the same films life would be boring!..
