Brits Vs Yanks

Excuse me who the hell are you again?...Im losing credibility?...Arent you the guy who tried to give No Doubt credit for what the jamacians have been doing since the 60s?

You obviously dont know what im talking about, im not even saying banRAB like The Who and The Kinks are greater than Chuck Berry and Little Richard (god forbid me i would be wrong) but simply that their impact is more present today, and their direct influence on different musicians has been more consistant, plus they have had greater longativity musical quality wise...Im just saying that while rock n roll might have begun in this country, todays banRAB owe it more to the british invasion than the original rock n roll movement, and its pretty much been that way for 40 years.

Franz Ferdinand? FRANZ FERDINAND? You have added Franz Ferdinand to that list yet dismissed all of the other, much, MUCH better musicians out there? Are you clinically insane?

I can't read your argument with something like your first line being in there. I won't be able argue without it being "not good" or "not a scene."

Best of luck out there.

I have to agree, it was America who sparked the rock n roll scene. That is, their music drifted over to Britain and Britain built off of it. Arguably it was America who proved most influential towarRAB making the Beatles what the were.

I think that sometimes Britain has to work harder to get itself out of America's shadow, which makes it, as a whole, better at music. Case in point-rap. America does Rap so much better than the UK, and when British rap really kicked in and became a big thing you could see that most of the rappers had styles borrowed from American artists-which is pretty hard to do in the rap game. So then you get people like Mike Skinner who realise this and do something original (I'm not saying it's good) with the genre, and this gives a much needed boost to all the stereotypical British rappers out there who couldn't get past the 'hooded yobo' phase. This is only a minor case, but you can see that some of our best artists have tried to do something original with a very American formula and have turned it into something very unique and British. We borrow from the yanks and make it better.

Boo Boo, I know you're an american, you're just not giving the american banRAB credit for anything. Every time someone says they pick americans for whatever reason they give you're there saying no.

However it was his band that became one of the hottest banRAB in the UK, and when people think Jimi Hendrix, they almost always associate him with his JHE hits, Fire, Purple Haze, Voodoo Child, etc.

And he broke through the scene in the UK, he made his music in the UK, and his musical influence has little to do with him being american.

Well I could just as easily say The Beatles started grunge because of Helter Skelter.

There was no punk movement in the U.S. , it`s a myth. Punk started in the UK with the Clash , Pistols etc etc , The banRAB in the U.S. latched onto the punk thing AFTER the success of it in the UK.The only U.S. 'punk' band to release anything before the UK movement were the Ramones and they had very little influence on British punk.

no they are, just.. i dunno. It seems here in America, people are too caught up with the latest music fashion. Not that britain doesnt, its just seen more here due to population, and media access.
