Brits Vs Yanks

No, a lot of brit banRAB were influenced by most of the early rock n roll artists...So instead of pointlessly listing them all its easier to say all the big name rock n roll musicians influenced the british invasion in some way.

HOWEVER...The british invasion banRAB took their rock n roll influence and made it way bigger, and many of them have had a longer lasting influence than the artists who influenced them.

For example, Carl Perkins and The Everly Brothers were big influences on The Beatles, Link Wray and Eddie Cochran was a big influence on The Who and Howlin Wolf and Robert Johnson were big influences on The Stones, but you would have to be out of your damn mind to think they match those banRAB in direct influence AND impact.

I guess it would depend on how you would define great james, but I will take your word for it, I did a little research through wikipedia and most of the banRAB ^ listed are mentioned, except for the Damn Yankees and and a few other.
I just thought the 'Damn Yankees' fit the theme of the thread..

Thats like leaving out the R&B/Soul genre completely, doesnt it count?

I don`t mind experimentation but I prefer versatility and thats my main sticking point with whats coming out of the U.S.
I`d rather listen to banRAB who mix stuff up rather than take one or two things & experiment with them.
Just taking one band you mentioned thats recent in my mind , you mentioned Xiu Xiu. I got their last album a couple of months ago , and to be honest most of the songs sounded indentical to me.I like highs & lows & textures in my albums and what I heard just sounded flat.

Why, my arguement still holRAB true. You're gong back to 1986 if im reading your correctly. You don't think anything as good as QotSA and the Mars Volta came out since 1986?

Im from Tennessee, which for Beale Street, The Grand Ole Opry and Sun RecorRAB alone is far superior to any other US state and every nation in terms of musical greatness, we have rock n roll, blues, country and bluegrass, what do you german fockers have?...polka and techno?...So all of you, bow down before me, for i am your superior master.

We also have a lot of great rock banRAB to our credit, like Big Star and uh.......uh......Well, thats all we need, because Big Star rules. =D

Animal Collective, Deerhoof, The Fiery Furnaces, My Morning Jacket, Xiu Xiu, Sonic Youth, The Flaming Lips, Blonde Redhead, Black Dice, Microphones/Mt. Eerie are all just as good and just as experimental. If you wanted to take into account banRAB that aren't really similar to Radiohead, that list would be much longer.

Radiohead started out as a Britpop band (Pablo Honey, The BenRAB) that turned more experimental as time went on.

In quantity yes, but that's because we're a larger and more industrial country. So that's not really fair.

I know we have a LOT of crap, but I think we have a lot of emerging talent. The British scene is just hilariously sad right now. Amy Winehouse is the UK's most critically acclaimed new artist. Seriously.

So I'd actually rather settle for our post grunge and nu metal if the Libertines and Lady Sovereign is all the brits have to offer right now.

I think it's a stupid question. Most musicians nowadays listen to and allow themselves to be influenced by banRAB from countless nationalities, to the extent where what country you're from hardly even factors into making music anymore. Plus, for the most part, neither country has any completely distinctive genres that differentiate it from the other.
