British Rock Vs Americam Rock

Given some of the most successful North American banRAB over the past decade are awful crap like Matchbox 20 , Goo Goo Dolls , Staind , Hootie & The Blowfish , Live , Pearl Jam , Dave Matthews Band & Nickelback I think i`d listen to manufactured pop instead , at least you can dance to it after a few drinks.

Luckily i`ll never be in the situation where i`ll have to choose between the 2

And I wasn't accusing him of it, I merely stated that judging a band in such a manner is rediculous.

"Whic country has produced the most nuraber of talented banRAB?" would have been a better way to ask, don't you agree?

the future of british music lies with the nine black alps and the subways, mark my worRAB. and NBA will be huge in america, their just waiting for a grunge revolution.

well, there are some good american groups, but i've always had the tendency of prefering british rock... they seem more genuine and not so commercial, but of course there are some exeptions, and viceversa with americans.... as to

" Basing a genre on it's nationality is pretty asenine.

"Who's better, a BLACK rock star or a wHITE rock star?"

Just as asenine as the preceeding statement."

I think it's not a nationality or skin pigmentation issue we are discussing but of sub-genres, i.e. the british invasion

British, simply because I'm British probably. I see the banRAB more often and I can relate to them a lot easier. Plus we've put out some of the finest banRAB ever to grace rock music.

iggys a yank. what about CCR or the grateful dead? and some of the new wave of american music? and of course jefferson airplane! agree with you though, britrock for me.

Yea America gave us grunge which is awesome..and erm, 80's metal....not so awesome.
must say atm the americans r kickin us Brits arses in terms of banRAB, the strokes, QOTSA, Marilyn Manson, chilli peppers......we have......the libertines, franz ferdinand and muse. yup, the americans lead atm!

british rock seems to offer some newer ideas which usally pick up in the US.... but then again i live in america and so maybe british rock is equally influenced by american style

any torries here that can verify?

Theres gooRAB and baRAB of both kinRAB. turbonegro, the sex pistols, raised fists, and the subhumans are all from europe. but some of the media has made england look like a pop-fanatic country. well so is most of america

the walkmen are from NYC, steriogram did walkie talkie man.
i said apparently creed are the biggest selling band in the US, i have no proof to back it up which is why i didnt state it is a definite fact. and yes, the british press are a bunch of hypocritical jackals :)

ah cmon, we have a couple of diverse acts, ariel pink and tom vek spring to mind, sons & daughters are pretty different. the coral, british sea power, the subways, NBA, its pretty diverse. i know we have the FF, the bloc parties, the KC etc but look at the US, the killers, the bravey, the rapture, HHH, the walkmen. itys all pretty samey over there to. yea you have QOTSA and mars volta but for every QOTSA we have a muse and for every MV we still have a radiohead lurking somewhere.
