Britannia High is really good!

I'm a 59-year old male, so not exactly its target audience, but I like it. Of course ITV is cashing in on the High Street Musical buzz, but it is well scripted and acted, and Gary Barlow has a pretty good track record in churning out hummable tunes.
Plenty of eye-candy for both sexes (and gays) too.
I'd like it to take advantage of its market and embed useful messages eg anti-drugs, safe sex etc into the scripts.

I kind of wish they would do more songs in reality instead of so many cheesy fantasy dressing up numbers. But they are hilariously camp, so it's not all bad.

Tonight's was very funny, with some good lines. Even Danny's acting was half decent as well and Lauren was back to her best as she was at the beginning of the series. So al in all 7/10.

How unlike him.

Perhaps if he was reviewing a show that had a balance of good points and bad points he would have been more balanced, but instead he was reviewing Britannia High.

okay heres one for the guys. (well my girlfriend gave an opinion lol so it doesnt really matter)
If you were danny who would you pick and why?

Claudine or Lauren?

(who knows maybe hell announce he fancies lola) ha

Hi kiss me now.
I, also was a part of that same am dram group. His mum also runs a seperate dance school - as you probably know.
It was frustrating throughout youth productions under that am dram group as Matthew and his sister would always get principal roles regardless. To be fair, Matthew was a better actor than his sister was. But back then they were very precocious. They have, however, when I have met them recently - I live in the same village as them - seemed ok.
His sister went to Conti's - I know Matthew definitely went to Sylvias and I think he did Conti's also. Both of them went to local primary and middle schools however, as they went to my school lol
Neither of them had a choice but to be drama/dance kiRAB to my knowledge of them (which is quite well). They do enjoy it, and are less brattish than they were. Certainly, Matthews reputation stems from his behaviour as a child (which I think stemmed from everyone saying he was great and giving him a bit of a big head when he was a kid) but when I have seen him of late, he seems ok, and his sister is a nice girl too.

As for the rest of the cast, I cant comment.

As for stage school kiRAB - I went to a stage type school and I turned out ok. The damage is done when everyone around them builRAB them up from a young age and they grow up believing their own hype.

not all stage school kiRAB are like that, i used to know a couple and they were lovely and down to earth

ironically though i knew a couple laRAB that used to dance, and then became pro dancers, they could be right swines at times, however a few of us that knew them had a theory that it was due to how much stick they got given about being dancers growing up, maybe it makes them that way

its a shame they wont give it a 2nd chance, there is clearly a market for it, many of the clips on you tube have in excess if 50k hits

and for example, this clip has over 200,000 hits
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=HTrQC7GcJEg for watch this space

official bebo page is popular and there is a lot of facebook sites that have popped up and the petition has over 400 sigs so far http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/BritanniaHighSeries2

makes you wonder if another channel, ie channel 4 or e4 could have made it work (ie in their t4 slot) or even bbc on a sat afternoonn

The country is in recession, this is the worst time to put on any new theatre show. Things are going to get worse and already musicals/shows are having substantial less bookings. It would not make financial sense and David Ian is a business man first and foremost. trust me, It wont happen

I really love that song!

I hope Claudine's episode isn't just about her trying to get Danny - I'd like to think they've given her some sort of other depth.

I thought it was great fun! Nice, feel good telly for a Sunday night. Well made, witty and very glossy looking. The best new programme on TV this year.

Can't wait until next week. Bring it on! :D

Indeed- in the run up to Christmas all these shows closed due to a severe drop in ticket sales-

Never Forget
Eurobeat
Avenue Q
Girl with A Pearl Earing
Joan Rivers Stand Up AT Leicester Square
Riflemind

There will be no Britannia High Spectacular

Thanks for replying. I don't think the show would work as a musical. Maybe if they changed it to CITV but then it would be changed too much and I don't think I'd like that. It's a real shame the show didn't take off.

I had to tape the first two episodes of this as I was away, but after watching them last night, I really love it :D

And yes I do fancy Mitch Hewer :p I loved him as Maxi in Skins, but I think the whole cast of this show is great. I think there's a great team behind it as well, with Arlene Phillips being the main choreographer and Gary Barlow as the songwriter.

Can't wait for this weeks ep.

Nugent was just saying her place had already gone to test whether she really had learnt her lesson by seeing if she would be prepared to put the work in and re-audition. Perhaps that bit wasn't sledgehammered home clearly enough so you missed it? ;)
