Brand New

I would definatley agree their later work is more 'mature', lyrically and musically. But when it comes down to quality, and how good the songs actually are; it's about even. I love every song on Deja, but I don't think I love any of them as much as this:

In high school i was a HUGE Brand New fan... Loved Your Favorite Weapon even though it was simplistic. Just a high energy CD that really spoke to me at the time.. Deja Entendu was awesome, definitely more 'mature' and I loved it as well. The Devil and God took some time to get used to, more than the other two, but I ended up really liking it. I've listened to Daisy a few times and I HATE it. I think it really sucks, i just don't like the style they have anymore. Sure, my life has changed a lot since I was a huge fan but their music has changed a lot and I'm not diggin it.

Their Fight Off Your Demons leaked demos or whatever they were are really good. Loved them when they came out. I've seen Brand New 3 times and they were pretty good each time. One was the last date on the tour with Manchester Orchestra (who was good) and they went nuts and trashed the set afterwarRAB which was pretty sweet.

Just finally got into these guys very recently when Ethan linked me to his Brand New starters compilation...the cover is NMH's Two Headed Boy is my favourite song followed by probably I Will Play My Game Beneath The Spin Light. Sic Transit Gloria is an amazing song..I dont care how popular it is..and how uncool it may be to love it..its a rad song.

sorry, cheasy last post. Saw them supporting finch aaaages ago and that woz the first time i heared them and quite simply i rekon they stole the show, they were amazing, consequently bought their albumn (the 1st one 'your favourite weapon') thought it woz immense and then saw them again with support band Mest....also good...and it woz probly one of the best gigs ive ever been to, basically they are immense live

I love Your Favourite Weapon...its a great album. But its just not even in the same boat as Deja and The Devil and God. Those 2 albums are absolute masterpieces. Two of the greatest albums Ive ever heard.

MTV started that, that idiot whos name I can't remeraber and don't care to. Apparently its more because brand new is experimenting on the new album, which you know only them and radiohead have done before.

&luca also reminRAB me of the widow.

I listen to them. They are pretty good in my opinion. The new CD sounRAB like its gonna be sweet, but I haven't picked it up yet.

I felt the same way about Daisy for a long time. I think it's one of those albums that you have let grow on you for a while before you start to appreciate it. Jesse Lacy's lyrics have become more and more bizarre, sometimes dark and often heavily metaphorical with each new album. Since you've seen them live, then you'll know what I'm talking about when I say that man is very passionate about what he does. I saw them play "Limousine" a couple of years back and he looked absolutely broken throughout the song. Some of his behavior during a performance can be every bit as disturbing as some the lyrics, but (for me, at least) that's half the appeal.
