Brand new kicker smells sort of like electrical burn or something weird?

I bought a brand new kicker cvr 12 2 ohm and its a dual voice coil and I hooked it up to my amp and after i turn the music up it starts to smell almost like electrical burn...the wires are wired correctly. My amp is a punch 800 and it puts out 400 rms x 2 at 2 ohms (its a 2 channel amp)
