Boys from the Blackstuff on Sunday 26th September(BBC 4)

I was a 1st time viewer to and really enjoyed it but why was Yosser's Story filmed on proper film but the other episodes of the series(not the original film) was on video tape?

I know it's been quoted recently as being shown in 1980 (The Black Stuff) and 1982 (Boys From The Black Stuff) but there are some other reports that suggest it was originally filmed and shown in 1978 and 1980 respectively...and I would agree with this.

The reason I believe this (it being originally shown in 78 and 80 and not 80 and 82) is that I remember watching both in the house I grew up in. We moved in 1981.

It's a minor point but is something that keeps happening recently with schedulers, they can't seem to be bothered to look up when films or tv programmes were actually made. It seems to be ok nowadays to be a couple of years out of date. EG I've recently seen several mentions of Arthur in the press as being made in 1980, 1981 and 1982.

I'm sorry but I'm a real stickler for continuity. These people are being paid to write up about this stuff, so they should GET THEIR BLOOMIN' FACTS RIGHT!

Rant over :o:mad::o

Just a daming indicement of Thatchers Britain & very apt given whats around the corner.

A timely reminder of what the BBC is all about & how bland & mediocre the BBC has become.
