I love DS for reminding us daily that we all hold different but equally valid points of view. This thread is such an example. I'm amazed that some people get so worked up over TV programmes.

If you don't like BoBW, move on. I love it - whatever it's called and regardless of whether it bears any resemblance to the original.:D

Why does Gavin dislike Peter. What was the deal with teacher parent night. Couldn't understand a word he - Gavin - was saying :confused:
 
I think I may well be wrong actually. Remember the scene where his wife was asking him who someone was (the new Associate he'd taken on at work - in more than one sense :o) - I'm sure she said Sarah? :confused:
 
is the original directed by Tony Wharmby?

I never saw the original and now intrigued i looked it up on my library catalogue and they have a copy of it on DVD. Is that the one ?

I watched and enjoyed the first two episodes of this current version to a point. Then last night I felt it seemed a bit too rushed.
And I can't believe in Cassandra falling for Gavin ugh. he is too immature, and not as attractive as her hubby! Trevor Eve even though he is older:)
 
What makes me smile is the ammount of people that watch the third episode having totally not enjoyed the first two :eek:

Same went for Identity, slagging it off after watching all six episodes :)
 
Well I can't comment too much on the content so far, but presentation-wise it's very nice by ITV standards. It looks more likea movie than an ITV drama to be honest.
 
Yep, the father and daughter very much have a suggested incestuous relationship. Infact, their entire behaviour with other people really revolves around the dark fantacies that they have for one another.

Which is why I say it was a VERY daring series for 1976. It wasn't daring because of graphic sexual content, but rather from the pretty depraved subject matter.
 
Hmm, I've not seen the original and I'm assuming there's a lot more going on than meets the eye. I have to go to bed and think about all this. My big question is why did that very beautiful and smart young woman get herself pregnant and leave that massive, lovely house to live in a crappy flat in Hackney with that prat?
 
I think Jemima's a superb little actress but I would agree that not enough thought was put into her character... she was also working at the National in a David Hare play at the time so perhaps that influenced the size and depth of the part?? She wouldn't have been available for much of the shoot!
