Borat

it was great! The best film of the year. So many deleted scenes also just look at behind the scenes and on youtube.
I could not believe the line "in case the jews do another 9/11" lol lol

I saw it last night and enjoyed it but is it set up and staged? I cant believe that, for instance, they just walked into the Hotel and the hotel staff had no idea a camera crew was coming in. If you were a receptionsist and a man walked in followed by a camera crew you would look at the camera and ask whats going on. But they just served him oblivious to the cameras. So is it all like a normal film, scripted in advance. What about the Pamela Anderson bit? Surely she was acting here and had rehearsed what was going to happen. Are we expected to believe that he queued up at that Virgin store to see her and she didnt have a clue what was going to happen?

Although the film was hilarious from start to finish, it was also very far fetched. I'm pretty certain the Pammy scene was staged, but other things (breaking those antiques, bringing a bag of excrement into the etiquette dinner, the naked wrestle with his producer, masturbating in public and doing a toilet in a bush in public view in New York) was just plain sick!

Regarding staging in other parts, I am pretty convinced that it wasn't staged.
The participants have been handed fistfuls of cash afterwarRAB to keep them happy, and they were told it was going to be for Kazakh/Polish/Russian etc TV so they were happy to say anything (the producers blagged all sorts of lies).

Also FYI: The cops were called 96 times during filming :D (Source: The Sun)

And at least 3 participants have sued...

For some reason I really don't fancy this in the slightest. I've seen trailers and clips aplenty and haven't laughed at any of them, which is strange as I usually like that kind of thing. I'll give it a miss.

Went to see it last night, it was hilarious!!! I can honestly say i havent laughed as much at a film since Ali G In Da House!!!!!

What a film, very funny, offensive and dirty.... my kind of thing LOL

Couldn't agree more - good but disappointed - could have been so much better as SBC is so good at working with real people. He seemed to not do much of this.

Who cares if it was staged? And even if it was, its good enough to make people think "was it staged or wasn't it?"

The fact of the matter is, its the funniest film released this year, bar none.

I thought it was very, very funny, and had a great satirical edge as well. Obviously the way to drag everyone in was laughing at this daft comical character from Kazakstan, but the vast majority was clearly slating these idiots in America who would do anything to sell a car, recommend a gun to shoot a jew etc.

It actually got a round of applause at the cinema we were at, very rare in Glasgow, although there was a lot of groaning at the 9/11 line.

Cleverly done, although I don't think I need to see two naked actors pretending to be Kazahs wrestling each other ever again thanks. :p

Just been to see this at the cinema, it was absolutely hilarious. It actually surpassed my expectations which were already quite high. THAT SCENE where Borat and his friend wrestle is the funniest, sickest and most outrageous thing i've seen in a film. Pamela Anderson is actually good frienRAB with Sacha Baron Cohen in real life, didn't u know.
