Borat

Saw it tonight. Haven't laughed so much in ages. Brillian.

There will be people who are 'disgusted' by this, but they wont understand the irony of it all.

I Loved it - best seen with a big audience for a better atmosphere - I hardly ever laugh out loud (i just generally think 'thats quite amusing') But shockingly managed a laugh! Loved the whole meeting the new yorkers bit.. I've heard they were rude.. but bloody hell!

Absolutely brilliant. Its so wrong but its the best laugh you'll get for a while. I think he gets away with it by insulting almost every demograph of person.
Film of the year?

Apparently..

$135,137,860 -worldwide! :D
$90,504,000 - domestic - not sure what that means, just america maybe?
Foreign- $44,633,860

Great sucess! !!!!

Especially as it only opened to around 800 cinemas in the US because they werrent sure if it would be well recieved. Now its showing at over 2000. Plus it only cost 18 million to make so it 2 weeks theyre already made a huge profit. It won;t be no.1 this weekend though because of the stupid james bond film

Borat is Ali G's weakest character, the Borat slot in The Ali G Show was irritating. It was as entertaining as watching golf while kneeling on broken glass. Really it was that bad for me. And if they made a movie out of that God awful character then that means it is about 90minutes or so of his crap, instead of 5 which he got on the show.

Yeah the bruno film should be great. I loved his bruno character too.... The poopenshaft lol...

But yeah, i feel like i need to go see borat again, just to really appreciate how awesome it really was, it's the sort of film that you could easily miss a few of the jokes without noticing you had done and notice them on the second or third watch.

Whatever happens, i must buy it on DVD when it comes out.

I didn't like the hotel naked fighting bit, thought it was completely unnecessary and quite gross. However it was funny when they ran around the hotel and the people's discomfort in the elevator. The purpose of Borat is to laugh at what the americans do not so much borat himself though there are a few laughs there too.

Its still pretty real! Because theyre all thinking theyre being filmed for something thats only going to get shown in Kazakstan! So they dont think anyone else is going to see it and so theyre more honest about their opinions!

If you really want to get involved in "how real" it was, then youve got to also think is anyone going to be entirely their true selves when there is a camera near by!!

Looks Brilliant, can't believe I've only just discovered Borat, I never really watched the Ali-G show. It's so funny and interesting to see how people react to him , I saw some clips on youtube and so many of the people are like "Thats not how we do things in America"as if they're so much better, not realising they're being made to look like fools. Anyway really looking forward to the movie.

Haven't seen this mentioned on RAB before:

did you know that when Borat speaks "Kazakh" in the film he is (at least some of the time) really speaking Hebrew? Apparently he also used to write his TV clipboard questions in Hebrew so they would look "foreign" to his victims, and then had to scribble them out when he found himself interviewing an Israeli.
