Must you take a stab at me too?

As a child I had no known food allergies. I was allergic to milk as a baby
but the Dr. and my parents assumed I had outgrown it. My food allergies
were not discovered until a few years ago. Cleared up a lot of stomach and
skin issues I'd been having.

Except for the remote indoor block party location somewhere else, guests
wouldn't have to crosstown drink and drive drunk home instead of simply
walking home!!!

Grilled corn on the cob in the husk is fun. Everyone can shuck their
own.

A big relish tray -- pickles, olives, stuffed celery, sliced onions,
green onions, peppers

Don't be silly. If I were "trolling" I'd have posted where to buy handbags
or shoes from China and post from a gmail account.

"jmcquown" < wrote >I've been trying to think of what I could take. I
thought maybe I'd make
something my aunt Jean used to prepare. She called it Ambrosia:

1 can (20 oz.) chunk pineapple in juice
1 can (11 oz.) mandarin oranges
1-1/2 c. seedless grapes
1 c. miniature marshmallows
1 c. sweetened flaked coconut
1/2 c. chopped nuts (pecans, walnuts, whatever)
3/4 c. sour cream
1 Tbs. sugar

Drain pineapple and oranges. Combine pineapple, oranges, grapes,
marshmallows, coconut, and nuts. Stir together sour cream and sugar. Stir
into fruit mixture and refrigerate. Serve chilled.>>

The ambrosia sounds like a great idea but let's advance it just a little.
Instead of a can of oranges, get a couple of fine ones, peel them, section
and chop just a little. The flavor is so much better. Forget the nuts (
they get soggy) and forget the sour cream. Also some chopped apple that has
not been peeled is tasty and pretty. If time and space permit, freeze
something to set your serving piece on that's deep and wide. It will hold
better/longer than ice cubes or crushed ice. Polly

You're assuming I can get really good oranges right now.

My "serving piece"? I was thinking about a tupperware container. It's an
outdoor picnic sort of affair, not a fancy dinner. I'm not taking anything
breakable.

I haven't thought of that recipe in years, maybe decades! Thanks for
the reminder. Since I'm on a baked bean roll now, I'd probably make a
pot and bring it... but only if somebody is firing up the BBQ,
otherwise maybe cole slaw or sweet & sour cucumber salad.

I love cooking with wine.
Sometimes I even put it in the food.
