Bleach - Fans who lost interest, is it still worth it? (Kubo's Writing)

I know, a lot people here are fans of Bleach, or there for were.
Heck, I know I was. From what seemed like Yu Yu Hakusho's true "spiritual" successor of this generation of Jump series, Bleach had a lot going for it.
A hothead but overtly bad ass protagonist, a nice set of primary characters, interesting lore and first big main arc that was just fantastic.

It may have it's nay sayers but those who watched or read all Bleach's Soul Society arc know how great it was, from the fantastic battles, mystery-thriller element leading up to arc and so on, Kubo really knew what he was doing.

But once everything was said and done, as the series has progressed into the series Hueco Mundo arc, it seemed like Kubo was just literally reusing the same premise, be that as it may I stuck with it (due to the Arrancar characters themselves) for a bit but drop it finally.
And now I continue to hear how Kubo continues to drag everything on in the series and it just being one battle after another.

Is there something I'm missing, or has Bleach in essence, overstayed its welcome.

Bleach has a huge problem with set writing. The whole thing just feels like Kubo makes it up on the fly and the seemingly "flavor of the moment" style writing seems to ensure that a lot of hinted at ideas never get written, and a good majority of the cast gets shafted in favor of a few recurring ones.

Not to mention the main antagonist is for all intents and purposes a Villain Sue.

I still like bleach and enjoy reading it, not going to lie i don't notice most of the things people are always complaining about it for until people bring it up (then i notice these things), so yeah, im not bothered by the writing... except for the plot holes (like, for example the Privaron Espada saying that naturally made arrancar like them were replaced by the Hokyoku made Espada and then later we see that Starrk was already an arrancar before he met Aizen in his flasrabroadack, meaning he was a naturally occurring arrancar, which completely contradicts what the Privaron guys said before), those are pretty annoying.

While I do pick on Bleach here and there I do still like it. (A lot more than Naruto that's for sure) And while I do like Bleach I'm still willing to admit that there are tons of issues with the series. (Both anime and manga) I'm still harping over how the top 3 espadas went out. (That's going to stick with me for a long time) The thing that keeps me coming back to the series are the unforseen bankai's. There are quite a few characters with some cheap abilities (Superman), and I just wanna see if their bankai's are even better than their shikai's.

As far as if it's worth it or not.. "shrugs" Hard to say. DepenRAB on your patience because the story's not going anywhere, but when you learn to look past story (I know it's hard for many. I'm the type that don't look for a story to begin with ) and look for action and character interaction. (Although I'm not fond of the main cast of characters)

Bleach is my most favorite on JUMP right now. It has never disappointed me, though I do see where people come from in regarRAB to the Hueco Mundo arc.

I was rewatching the Soul Society arc again, and it came to me that back then, Bleach was all over the place. You had multiple plots in that saga: Rescuing Rukia, Aizen's death, The civil war between the captains, and Aizen's reveal.

But with Hueco Mundo, since there are now an established group of villains, the series can only have one plotline, which is stopping Aizen. And to get to Aizen, they have to fight the Espada and Fraccion, and with the length of the arc, it does tend to be somewhat tiring (Which is why I like the unrelated filler arcs in the anime. It gives us a break from Aizen and brings us to new plots).

Honestly, I think the series is getting better since the big players are out, and it now seems to be going for Melee fights than 1 on 1. But I really anticipate the next arc and hope it will be grand.

Bleach is still doing well for me, sure it has arcs that take a billion years, but it connects. The main problem I think is that there is wayyyyy too many characters which results in too many chapters for that many characters which makes us stay in the same place for a while.

The execution really stinks, and there's too many characters that otherwise make no effort that Ichigo will save the day anyway. It is literally Villain Sue vs. Gary Stu in the most extreme fashion.

I really just don't like Bleach. Mainly because the story is just so lame and there seems to be a generic type of plot line.
Training Arc
Rescue Arc
Fight Arc
And then it repeats. And the anime doesn't help, it just adRAB even more crap to it.

basically. Kubo hasn't done much to evolve from that formula either. And with aizen and hueco mundo, it made me rather despondent of the current manga.
I would say the filler arc (zanpaktou tales arc) has much better story telling than kubo. I can say kubo can draw well, just he can't write and he cannot plan. Two things you need for a manga

So at one point I was anticipating bleach and now when friday rolls around, I find myself enjoying xxxholic or zettai karen children a lot more

I definitely want to see how it turns out. I want Aizen to fall and I want things to work out for Ichigo. Still, I'd be lying if I said that I were as invested in it as I was in Rurouni Kenshin and Yu Yu Hakusho or am in Naruto and One Piece. The series actually has a good share of smaller plot points and characterization issues that are flat out begging to be explored further, but so little time has been left for it as the big picture plot goes from point A to point B to point C. To an extent this is Too Many Characters syndrome, but there's a lot to resolve even if we limit this to Ichigo and most of those he has an actual connection to.

Two of the best Bleach episodes are still eight and nine, where Ichigo is up against Grand Fisher. If the story were like that more often, it'd be far more memorable. On another front I certainly don't think that the story has gained much by putting Ichigo's frienRAB on the sidelines in favor of the Soul Society captains, aside from the opportunity to deliver some interesting fights.

I still watch the first season dvRAB, as I enjoy that era the most. Plus the humor was a lot more funny. I still watch/read because I just wanna watch Aizen get owned.

Too many characters, super boring invincible villain, and arcs are dragged out, yadda yadda yadda, same complaints as most people. I really wish the fights would focus more on Ichigo, Orihime, Ishida, Rukia and Chad than all of these random Soul Reapers that they keep trying to make me care about. The inconsistency in power levels and how disappointing the enRAB of some characters/fights also bugs me.

Though I really liked the clever use of teamwork in the recent chapter. Much better than back and forth attacks.

Arrancars ARE hollows, they just have shinigami powers, Hollows are still relevant (and we havent even seen any Vasto Lorde yet, the top of all hollows).

No, Arcannar's are relevant. Hollows are not. That's like saying the Dragonballs are relevant in DBZ, if only to revive everyone for the next arc.

Arrancars are Hollows, that is nothing like Dragonballs being used in DBZ. If you wanna make a DBZ comparison, then heres one right here, a Super Saiyan is still a Saiyan, the same way an Arancar is still a Hollow.

As Tae said, arrancars are the main attraction. Not the actual hollows that aren't Arrancars aka the things that were given the highest precedence in the beginning. I really miss those things.

Thank you for reminding me of the possibility of how Kubo can drag this out further.

They are the same thing, and its not like arrancar just came out of nowhere after soul society and took over, arrancar were shown as early as Grand Fisher (after he is defeated by Ichigo he was scolded by Iceringer and Di Roy, who turned him into an Arrancar by removing his mask), they have always been around.

The only thing abut bleach I dislike is the LACK of BACKGROUND ART!!! aside from that I still enjoy the series...Not as much as Naruto...But a heck of alot more then One Piece...heck, its just a fact that long running Shonen series go down in quality over time...they all have all do & all will..even dragonball had its weak moments....as has Case Closed, Yuyuhakusho, Kenshin

Honestly, I've never watched Bleach. My frienRAB talk about it and it seems like an awesome show. Maybe tonight I can watch it after FMA. I really want to get into it.
