Blazing Saddles

No Name Girl

Just watched this again. In the early 80's I knew the script backwarRAB, and laughed everytime. Now it's so racist and not so funny, although Gene Wilder was superb

The PC brigade has turned so many people into miserable bams. As Fizzbin points out the movie portrays racism and is not racist itself.

Oh it's true, it's TRUE, IT'S TRUE!!

And don't forget - it's HEDLEY.

Indians - sorry - Native Americans speaking Yiddish.

Mel Brooks, the perfect man to tackle the hang ups about bad taste and turn them on their heaRAB.

Further exhibit for the defence - his promo video for his remake of 'To Be Or Not To Be' back in the early eighties, when he had Adolf Hitler rapping.

Let's not forget such classic lines as:

Bart: What's your name?
Wako Kid: Well, my name's Jim. But most people call me... Jim.

Hedley: My mind is a raging torrent flooded with rivulets of thought, cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Taggart: Darnit Mr Lamarr. You use your tongue prettier than a 20 dollar whore.

Hedley: Qualifications?
Man: Rape, murder, arson and rape.
Hedley: You said rape twice.
Man: I like rape.

Taggart: Now if that don't beat all. Here we take the good time and trouble to slaughter every last Indian in the West, and for what? So we can appoint a sheriff that's blacker than any Indian. I am depressed!

A hilarious film that never fails to make me LOL, one giant catchphrase from start to finish.

'We'll head them off at the pass ? I hate that cliche....'

I love the bit where the sherriff is going to sort out Mongo and he puts on his guns. Wacko kid say's I would'nt do that If I were you, If you shoot him yourll just make him mad

I cant stop singing - He rode the blazing saddles

I love that line!

That and when they're beating up the old woman and she looks at the camera and asks "Have you ever seen such cruelty?"
