Black man defends home, self, son from lynch mob and gets PRISON for it

I wasn't aware Mr White frisked the would-be attackers to know for sure they had no guns, knives, bombs, shards of glass, etc.

It was easy to say (and perhaps foolish to admit), once in court, that he didn't think or believe the attackers had firearms.
 
We know. I'm sure you'll be proud to tell that to your cellmate when you get locked up for manslaughter if you ever get the chance to prove what a big man you are.
 
I take back what I said about being comfortable with you carrying in public. You obviously have no understanding of the responsibility that gun endows.

I just don't understand this "THEY'RE NOT GOING TO MAKE ME A PRISONER!!!" mentality. I"m no less of a man for not leaving my house or car when someone is threatening me. And I'm sure as hell a better father for dialing 911 and NOT getting killed or going to prison for doing something stupid.

Self Defense is an "affirmative defense" and as such, it is the burden of the person claiming it to PROVE it.

Apparently he failed to do that.

BTW, even in Texas, it's still an affirmative defense which requires the defendant to prove.

That was sort of my point. You can't justify, legally at least, shooting someone for using a racial slur. Now if they threaten to kill you, that's another story.

If it was legal, there'd have been a shit load of dead people in Maryland. I've been called just about every name in the book.
 
Im pretty sure its a crime to form a mob and go yell hate speech at a homeowner on his front yard. These "punks" are not crimefree.
