BEV - recent changes in picture quality?

Not the case for MLB, NFLST and NHLCI HD - these have been 3 since the beginning of summer

Anyhow...I haven't noticed any difference either. I've started watching the new season of shows and they look great....just as before. The only channel I find pixelation regularly is on WGNHD but that's always been the case.
 
Has anyone else noticed a distinct degradation in picture quality with BEV signals? I have an HDTV setup with the 9200 receiver, and I am sure that over the last few weeks my picture quality has gotten worse (haven't changed a thing). There are a lot more blotches visible during SD programming, and even I noticed blotches during Blue Jay HD broadcasts.

I am wondering whether BEV is squeezing the bandwith even more, or if there is something else I can do about this problem.

I don't watch those channels so can't comment on them. Do they actually run all 3 channels on the same transponder at the same time?
 
I don't think they are on at the same time. Also when there is high demand for HD they shut off the four HD PPV channels to fit all the games in.
 
Yes i have noticed a difference in picture quality about a month ago. No changes here as well in hardware. Some HD channels are still very clear but some have lost quality, it all depends on the show i noticed.
 
I've noticed quite a bit more "pixellation" during fast moving scenes on my 9200..a sure sign of compression/bandwith problems...I am NOT impressed :mad:
 
Yes, I have noticed a change in their PQ, I watch only HD on my 9200 PVR, and there is certainly a change in the PQ. It somehow seems softer, with a lot more "noise" to it. It is weird, a while back the same thing occurred and the PQ seemed to improve after that.... Perhaps they are testing equipment and or limiting the bandwith. Whatever the case it is really annoying.

Well for one keep in mind you are watching Bell compress vu, and the picture will most probably keep getting worse as more channels are added.
 
This up coming week I will compare some shows on BEV HD networks, and then same show recorded on same nework OTA on BEV and HTPC to see if I can see any differences.
 
CompressVu, certainly, but what contribution is from the deteriorating satellites?

In talking to a PPV distributor about ordering a UFC event, they said NOT to order the HD versions because they've had 'problems' with BEV.

That and the 1.2M dish requirement pretty much tells me they are on their last legs.

The question is:
Will they still be functional the day before they can get MPEG4 launched to increase much needed capacity and nationally usable signals with some new satellites to carry them through the next 10 years if they can hold out that long?
 
The image quality has definitely gone down lately. I'm also getting pixallation more often... yay.. :mad:
 
I've noticed a very obvious change in compression in SD. It's most obvious during fast motion, or in colour gradients.
 
I think the lower PQ in SD is now more pronounced because we spend so much time watching HD.....

Does that make any sense.?
 
Actually, I've seen several occasion of all 3 lit up at the same time.

Suspending HDPPV to accommodate other programs is indicative of no reserved bandwidth for other events and no full time capacity for growth.

And I don't believe that high or low compression on any given transponder has any effect on others, only those too many signals in the same multiplex.

And no need to point out a comment is directed at me.

Funny.....I havn't noticed but even the *choice peeps are complaining about theirs so maybe it's a common issue between both companies as they try to keep up with cable.

ARR -" CompressVu, certainly" - I've had both and still think Bev has a better picture. Just look at the Weather network channel.
 
I was watching some SD programming last night, and I have to say it looked just about the same as it always had. No difference for me.
