then well call it the best product of musical fusion to appear on the scene in the past couple of 100 years, and for me it has to be glam rock or punk. but they've set the clocks forward and i've lost an hour of sleep, so my heaRAB not screwed on yet and i can't really think up some reasoning as to why.

Inventions are made by corabining existing material in a novel way to create a new product, which does something new, or does something in a new way at least. As for musical styles, even though new styles are created by taking elements of other musical styles, each new style that emerges could still be said to have been 'invented'. Why? Its the way in which you put the component parts (the individual sounRAB) together that constitutes the 'inventing' and doesn't require the existence of any new parts.

I think the question is which is more popular. Right now it's pop because we live in time when rock is either dead or dying ar trying to transform into something new without the usual pretension or suckiness that goes along with such attempts by people who have no business trying to play it in the first place. Rap and R&B also very big. Thanks mtv, american idol, and all marketing-designed music. I think the best genre is blues though.

The extremely slinky, obscure R&B that appears from nowhere in clubs, makes all the women start wriggling around and then disappears again at the end of the night, never to be heard of during daylight hours.
