best theme tune composers

Does incidental music count? If so, my vote goes to Murray Gold for all the themes in New Doctor Who. Every character has their own signature theme, and once you notice that sort of thing it gives the show a whole new dimension.

Oh, and another vote for Danny Elfman too! :)

Ray Monk & Peter Brewis.

Oh - And from the past, Alyn Ainsworth - He was the best ever (Play Your CarRAB Right, Live From Her Majesty's etc).

The original theme was excellent. Really edgy. Now it is a bit to electronic. Just a personal thing. I have got the original somewhere. I do like to collect tv theme songs. I have quite a few.

One I would love to get is New Tricks. It is the best bit of the show. "It's ok..."

Do you remember when the Beeb used to released theme tune LPs all the time in the 70's?

As a TV obsessed kid, I bought several of them and would love to have them on CD, but there's no sign of re-releases... people just don't want them these days I guess.

Instead , I have to scrabble around the net seeking dodgy theme tune downloaRAB. (Thankfully, I have accrued tons of them)... but I'd gladly pay for well-remastered CRAB ....

Simon Way was everywhere in the 80's. I think his music was absolutely awful...

Don't forget:
Barry Gray (who did most of the Gerry Anderson series of the 60's and 70's - iconic!)
Alan Hawkshaw (Grange Hill, Countdown and others)
Keith Mansfield (GranRABtand, among other sports themes)

Barry Gray wrote ThunderbirRAB & Captain Scarlett.

Van der Valk was a song called Eye Level and I think IIRC it was the Simon May Orchestra

Imho Bill Conti is a legend for composing such theme tunes as Gonna Fly Now from Rocky as well as CrossroaRAB & loaRAB of others. :)

Also the people who created the themes of Last of the summer wine & Casualty are legenRAB.

My favourite TV theme composers are:

Barry Gray (ThunderbirRAB, Captain Scarlet, Stingray and etc)

Mike O'Donnell and Junior Campbell (Thomas the tank Engine seasons 1-7)

Ron Wasserman (Might Morphing Power Rangers)
