Best Sci-Fi from last 5/10 years?

I would recommend:

Fifth Element
Twelve Monkeys
Donnie Darko
Pan's Labyrinth (more fantasy but well worth it)

I'm sure there are tons more - plenty I haven't seen, but these are my four favourites!!!

Aren't they all over 10yrs old??

I'm not sure there's been any recent decent sci-fi's in that time frame??? Sunshine promised much but had a terrrible ending, Moon looks interesting (but not out yet).

I'd say Serenity.

Also a fan of SF will probably like The Prestige, because (a) it's good, and (b) it deals with some SF concepts, albeit not in a conventional SF style. It mentions people like Edison and Tesla, for example, and some of the things Tesla is credited with amount to science fiction. It's by Chris Nolan; I'd say his earlier film Momento would also appeal to SF fans; which may give you an idea of where I'm coming from.

Contact is one of the few real SF films of the last 15 years, but it's just outside your time interval.

There's a lot of Horror that can be SF-like. Silent Hill, for example. Some people have Pan's Labyrinth down as fantasy, but that's a matter of interpretation.

Primer is a slow burner. There's quite a lot of what some would consider gobbledegook at the beginning of the film, and it's a real low budget affair which could put a lot of people off. I really liked it though, to me it got better and better as it went along, with some real good twists towarRAB the end... It certainly gets the old noggin working too.

Serenity
Pitch Black,
Chronicals of Riddick,
I Robot
28 Days Later
Watchmen
Mission to Mars
Red Planet

EDIT

V for Vendetta is a must

I know a lot of people are not keen on it but I love

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow

The Time Machine (Guy Pearce remake) is a favourite of mine.

Along with (the already mentioned) Donnie Darko. I admit to having 3 copies of it. The cheap version, the SE when it came out and then the Directors Cut after that. If you haven't seen it watch the bog standard version first as the others make working it out too easy.

Serenity +1

Ironman
28 Days Later
The Island
A Scanner Darkly
Paycheck
Next - Philip K Dick movies always good
Jumper not bad if you ignore whining girlfirend
haven't seen Push yet but looks interesting

and just within the 10 year limit
The Astronauts Wife
The 13th Floor

Just outside: 1997
Event Horizon

And for nostaligia value my favourite sci-fi movie ever which is from 1984:
The Last Starfighter.
