Best Psychological Movies (Use Spoiler Tags)

I'm not sure if this one really counts, but after the first viewing of Se7en, it had some pretty good twists that kept me guessing... and that ending was the icing on the cake.

And I agree about Memento, particularly love how Nolan lays out the story.

You see him in the beginning, but when they discover that Anne Heche's character has gone missing because she didn't report to work, Viggo's character works with Julianne Moore's character, who is the sister of the victim, in tracking her down, so he's in it for a good chunk.

Awesome! :)

The Others is another one that can be so creepy, but really interesting to see how it plays from different perspectives.

^ Yeah, Stay was another odd one that kept me confused until the end.

Viggo has a bigger part actually. He's in a good portion of the movie.

It's an odd remake because it matches the original frame for frame.

The Prestige is not strictly a psychological movie, but it does have "mind bender" elements because the characters themselves are on a quest for secrets and hidden agendas.

I didn't like Identity but it had some scenes.

I was going to say that one  Also, Stay, with Ryan Gosling. I love how that movie is like one big puzzle piece, and it's like more and more pieces keep getting thrown at you, and you have no idea what the hell goes where until the end, which I didn't see coming at all

 One of my last acts as mod here - I edited the title of the thread to warn people, but please don't forget to use spoiler spaces.

So far the only one I really agree with is Memento...and I suppose Donnie Darko...and okay, maybe Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

(GREAT thread idea, by the way!)

But what first came to mind for me were films like Pi, Mulholland Drive, and...there's Memento again! Films that truly leave you scratching your head at the end, and wondering for ages afterwards (although I did understand each film, I loved the mental/psychological thrill of trying to figure them out while viewing them).

And now that I'm writing I completely forget the other films I thought of when I saw the film title. Oh well. :)

I love Memento. Only movie that made my jaw drop from pure shock.
[sp]I almost felt bad for Teddy, but not really. He probably should've known better.[/sp]

Is The Prestige really a psychological thriller? Didn't seem it to me. Then again, I'd already read the book long before the movie came out... :look:

Identity was a trip too. I had to watch it twice to understand what was really going on.

Eep. I hope I didn't spoiler anyone. I don't think I revealed anything except that the movies had a surprise ending, but my bad if I did .

I have the Psycho remake for Viggo Mortensen who is in it for like 10 seconds. It's such an odd remake, it matches the original shot by shot.

But still. Hee. I hope you have fun watching it!

Ouch, guys. Some of these movies are cool enough that even though that they've been out forever on DVD, I think they warrant spoiler warnings or spoiler spaces. Especially since so much rides on certain surprises. :)

Identity really tricked me. The movie The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind really played with my mind. That movie took place for the most part in Jim Carrey's head. The best part of Fight Club is when Edward Norton finally defeats Brad Pitt. I still never understood why Norton had to shoot himself in the mouth. The Pixies' Where Is My Mind playing at the end was great.

The first thing that came to my mind was Indentity. That was a great movie, I kept trying to figure it out the whole time....WTF is going on, here?? :)
The prestige is another one. I just saw it last month, one of the best movies I have ever seen....very surprising twists and turns

I also agree with Saw, although not with Sixth Sense I enjoyed the movie a lot, it was amazing, but I saw the end coming. I preffered The Village
Donnie Darko and Momento were just amazing, very well thought out!
The Illusionist also had me going, 'why' and 'what at the end.
