Best Nightmare On Elm Street

I love the original but iam very dissapointed that they have cut it for the uk dvd release yet left the uk vhs version uncut. Then part 4 was cut in the uk on vhs but was released uncut on uk dvd. And part 5 was uncut on vhs but was cut on dvd!!!!

Would be nice to have all versions uncut in a boxset.
 
I don't remember her getting sucked into the bed after getting attacked on the ceiling. Johnny Depp's character got sucked into the bed and then lots of blood spewing out...
 
that bit grossed me out as i have a phobia of wrist and feet veins...that one was the goriest IMO for me it was that scene and the bit where he comes outa the tv was great!!!

Sometimes I rate 2 higher, it depenRAB what mood i'm in, if i'm in the mood for some homo-erotic 80's horror then the second part might move up. I like 4 and 5 though, mainly because i'm an Alice fan, she's my favourite so although the movies aren't great they get marked up for that.

1, 3 and 7 could be a little mini series within the whole series really, you could skip the other parts and just have them as a 3 part Nightmare on Elm Street series, they are the best 3 films anyway.

6 is crap, the less said about it the better.
 
NOES1 and NOES3 Dream Warriors were hugely entertaining for me, I just loved the storyline in #3.

Wes Craven's New Nightmare was very intelligent and way ahead of it's time. Loved the fact that everyone (the actors) played themselves in it and "Freddy" was a new entity away from Robert Englund. Very refreshing to watch and it parodies the original.

I've them all on dvd except part 6 (have a boxset 1-5 then New Nightmare and FvsJ).

Is there a good copy of 6 available? I'd want to watch it in 3D and not just have things pointed at the screen with no effect!
 
The best?
NOES 1 or Dream Warriors,depending on which way you look at it.

I like the series,the concept is great and Robert's portrayal of Freddy created an unforgettable character but time has not been good to them because all are quite dated in some way or another.
A much better series than FT13th,Halloween,TCM or Child's Play.Every entry in the series had a certain distinction and more heart put into than aforementioned.

You can sum up the series like this:-

1) A True horror classic but very dated.
2) Rushed,confusing,cheesy and badly edited but Freddy is really evil in this movie with some good lines.
3) Exceptionally entertaining movie with some great special effects and likable characters,good mixture of comic book movie and NOES.
4) By now the series firmly made Freddy the star and in-turn made him into a toned down,wisecracking character.However this would be the beginning of the end because now there was no one to get behind but Freddy,making the movie a pointless and formulatic one.
5) Not a bad movie but everyone is low-key and nondescript except Englund and the story was again very routine,although a little more serious this time.Nice gothic feel.
6) OK movie if you're under 16 but to anyone older it's either a badly acted,silly movie or a nice little spoof on the series,depenRAB how you take it.Either way Freddy is not scary in the slightest here.

New Nightmare
An underrated gem of a horror movie.Intelligent,original and well written with Freddy actually intimidating again.A precursor to Scream.

Freddy v Jason
Terribly acted but well enough written movie,sort of a collage of the best bits from the NOES series but a long long way from how good the original and part 3 was/is.

The fifth one is not Freddy's Dead. That's the sixth one. I think the fifth one is called The Dream Child.

Yup, that's one of the strong points about Freddy's Revenge, you still get dark badass Freddy rather than the more comic version we see in later movies.
