Best Nightmare On Elm Street

You're not alone there! :D

Aside from the nurse, I do think 3 had a very good plot and the whole Freddie's mother (the nun), seeing Nancy again and of course Kristen's character do make for quite good viewing. Naturally my favourite is the first one.

I didn't rate number 5 when I first saw it but it's not too bad really.

I don't mind part 2 to be honest - you could tell I had a weird sense of humour as a kid (thankfully my parents were very laid back about me watching horror films unlike some of my frienRAB) because I used to laugh my head off at the scene when the birRAB blow up in the kitchen!

As for gross bits in part 4 - the pizza scene is gross, but what about the bit when Debbie gets turned into a bug and gets caught in the bug trap? Now that is disgusting.

They tended to get less and less scary as time went on and Freddy became a caricature of himself.

In the first film, you hardly see his face. It's always dark and the scene is covered in shadow. By the sixth one, the make-up looked like pizza, and Freddy was on screen just as longer, if not longer than anyone else. He even plays a video game - ridiculous and far from the original concept of a sick slasher.

Great post.

3 is pretty much the perfect 80's horror movie. They got Freddy just right in this one keeping him as evil as he was in the first 2 movies but giving him a personality and some fantasticly amusing lines which didn't detract from just how much of a demoniacal son-of-a-bitch he was, Patricia Arquette was Freddy's greatest adversary and it had some of the best set piece deaths like the puppet scene and the tv set scene.

Of course, it's somewhat dated but that only adRAB to it's charm.

i became very into Freddy when i was 11!

but i adore part 3. its very good in many ways. i adored part 4 as well! as an 11 year old it was good anyway!!!

i look back on the Freddy's as nostalgic. i cant beleive they are remaking the original. there was room to continue the current continuity on after Freddy V Jason .

I bought the box set a while back but it's only got the first 6 films in. I've seen the first 3 and so far the third one is my fave. Is the 7th one worth buying?

Love Freddy Vs Jason :)

Films like that tend to date because of the music more than anything else. They wanted to give Star Wars a disco soundtrack (I know, I've never heard of it either), which would have ruined the film, according to numerous stone age sources.

Yeah, a lot of those 80's horror flicks were underpinned by a whole host of cheesy hair metal/tacky pomp-rock or terrible sub-Carpenter synth scoring.

The fashions and hair styles definately help in dating them too, but i like that.

The fashion and styles will come back. We went through the seventies in the late nineties, then the eighties in the noughties. We're due a mullet or a perm any time now. :(

Oh, the mullet has been back on and off since the turn of the millenium and all sorts of hair-metal band style attire is all over the high street these days (AC/DC tee shirts in Top Shop?!?), particularly with the emo-kiRAB (skull print tee shirts, skin-tight jeans tucked into high-top Adidas or Nike trainers with the tongue pushed up front, spiked bracelets, studded belts) and models having their stylists dress them like rock chicks in pre-distressed denim disasters.

The first one although i liked New Nightmare, the rest are all complete cheese, the puppet scene in Dream Warriors did scare the hell out of me the first time i watched it though.
