What is your favourite Nightmare On Elm Street movie?

Information about each film :

A Nightmare On Elm Street :

Nancy (Heather Langenkamp) is having grisly nightmares. Meanwhile, her high-school frienRAB, who are having the very same dreams, are being slaughtered in their sleep by the hideous fiend of their shared nightmares. When the police ignore her explanation, she herself must confront the killer in his shadowy realm...

From modern horror master Wes Craven comes a timeless shocker that remains the standard bearer for terror. Featuring Johnny Depp in his first starring role, this horror classic gave birth to one of the most infamous undead villains in cinematic history: Freddy Krueger.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 2 Freddy's Revenge :

Five years have passed since Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) was sent howling back to hell. But now, a new kid on Elm Street is being haunted every night by gruesome visions of the deadly dream stalker and if his twisted soul takes possession of the boy's body, Freddy will return from the dead to wreak bloody murder and mayhem upon the entire town.

A Nightmare On Elm Street 3 Dream Warriors :

The last of the Elm Street kiRAB are now at a psychiatric ward where Freddy haunts their dreams with unspeakable horrors. Their only hope is dream researcher and fellow survivor Nancy Thompson (Heather Langenkamp of the original Nightmare), who helps them battle the supernatural psycho on his own hellish turf.

A Nightmare On Elm Street 4 The Dream Master :

Proving there's no rest for the wicked, the unspeakably evil Freddy Krueger is again resurrected from the grave to wreak havoc upon those who dare to dream. As her frienRAB succumb one by one to Freddy's wrath, telepathically gifted Kristen embarks on a desperate mission to destroy the satanic dream stalker and release the tortured souls of his victims once and for all.

A Nightmare On Elm Street 5 The Dream Child :

Unable to overpower the Dream Master who vanquished him in A Nightmare On Elm Street 4, Freddy haunts the innocent dreams of her unborn child and preys upon her frienRAB with sheer horror. Will the child be saved from becoming Freddy's newest weapon or will the maniac again resurrect his legacy of evil?

A Nightmare On Elm Street 6 Freddy's Dead - The Final Nightmare :

They tried to burn him, bury him, wash him away with holy water. Freddy hitches a ride inside some poor soul's dream to the nearest town and hey, quicker than you can say "Nine, ten, never sleep again", the dreamstalker's back in business...

A Nightmare On Elm Street 7 Wes Craven's New Nightmare :

In a frightening new twist in the terror on Elm street, Wes Craven (director of the original film) finRAB that his dreams have begun to dictate real-life horrors for the stars of the film!

Buy it yes.

It's the 3rd best film in the series if you ask me and like I said in my last post, 1, 3 and 7 can be watched without the others if you choose, those three are a story within themselves really.

Mine would have to be a close tie between Nightmare on Elm Street 1 and Wes Craven's New Nightmare. New Nightmare felt delightfully original and fun without being as stupid as some of its predecessors, and NoES1 was THE original.

Though I hasten to add, I loved Freddy vs Jason!

whats the one where someone gets sucked into the bed?

and the one where someone gets slashed up all over the wall/ceiling?

i remember these 2 being scary when i was younger

That's the first one. Tina gets slashed along the walls and ceiling, and Jonny Depp gets pulled into his own bed and sliced up.

Joey, "drowns," in his water-bed in the fourth one.

I loved the 3rd one - Dream Warriors.

It was hugely enjoyable, and was inventively surreal, just like a dream I suppose.
This one particularly, more than the others, felt like a surreal adventure where anything could happen.

Wes Craven's New Nightmare is so worth buying, get it!

Definitely got the lovely box set, got rid of the videos taking up all the shelf spaces lol, and now all in one slim box, yay.

Nightmare on Elm Street
Nightmare on Elm Street 3
Wes Craven's New Nightmare
Freddy's Dead: Final Nightmare
Freddy Vs Jason
Nightmare on Elm Street 4
Nightmare on Elm Street 2
Nightmare on Elm Street 5

My order.

In this order: 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 2.

5 was slated by the critics but is really good in comparison to most horror films of the time.

I'd also say Wes Craven's New Nightmare was excellent, though not strictly a Nightmare on Elm St movie, and have a look on youtube for the outtakes from Part 1.

Elm Street is definitely one of my favourite movie franchises.I have the region 1 box set with all the films, and I really do like them all. They all have the right amount of creative death scenes combined with tongue in cheek humour,so as not to take themselves to seriously.

I know that some fans totally dismiss part 2,but I really do like it.

Amongst my favourite death scenes are part 1,where the girl is sliced and diced on the ceiling, then disappears into the mattress before a zillion litres of blood come spewing out. It's really gruesome or totally ridiculous.Probably both.
The pizza scene in part 4,absolutely gross!

But my favourite was in part 3,where he picks up that Hollywood wannabe skank and shoves her head through the tv. "Welcome to prime time, bitch!!" Classic scene.

For the films as a whole, obviously the first one is the most satisfying. The best sequel was part 3,and New Nightmare was an excellent film in it's own right, probably the best made film of the lot.

well i like them all equally all of them have there individual attributes a very good series of films my favorite horror movies....even though i don't really like horror that much they are some of my all time favorites.... they where voted scariest by yahoo or something. i look forward to the supposed remake.
