Best horror movie villains

Just to get in the spirit of Halloween (or should that be spirits) I was just wondering who is the best horror villians.

There are loaRAB to choose from, but my shouts would be:

1) Freddie
2) Jason
3) Pinhead
4) Michael Myers
5) Hannibal Lector

What do the rest of you think?

I used to think Pinhead was cool although it's been far too long since I've seen a Hellraiser film!

May from "May" for seeing a part of myself in her.

Using horror in the loosest sense of the word - David from The Lost Boys for being a long standing crush of mine :p

And not really a villain I guess but I do love Bub from Day of the Dead.

1) Freddy Krueger (the greatest horror movie villain ever; what's more evil than the ghost of a burnt to death child murderer who stalks you in your dreams)

2) Michael Myers (Jason might be more famous but he always was nothing other than a Michael ripoff).

3) Leatherface (skin mask wearing cannibal who wielRAB a chainsaw;what's cooler than that?)

4) Dracula (the ultimate and original vampire)
5) Romero's zombie's (often imitated,never bettered).

I am gonna come a bit left-field with some of my personal favourite horror movie characters here but here goes:

1) Bill Paxton's vampire Severen in probably the best vampire film ever made, Near Dark, and completely steals the movie from the likes of Lance Henriksen and Jenette GolRABtein, who are also brilliant in Near Dark but Paxton's character is just pure savage evil.

2) Joe Pilato's character Captain Rhodes in Day Of The Dead. He is the most horrific and inhumane character in that entire film, more so than the walking dead who tear and rip their way through his scumbag platoon of ragtag psychotic soldiers.

3) Eihi Shiina in the Takashi Miike film Audition scares the hell out of me. If you haven't seen Audition yet, i urge you to do so.

4) Dennis Hopper as Frank Booth in Blue Velvet. It may not be an archetypal horror movie but he is a frightening enough character to put that film in the horror movie category.

All these modern horror villans rely too heavily on modern special effects, here is a list of true horror actors

1) Boris Karloff- Mummy and frankensteins monster
2) Christopher Lee - count dracula
3) Lon Chaney - werewolf
4) Vincent Price - house of Wax, The raven, Pit and the Pendulum
5) Charles Grey- devil rides out
6) Norah Batty - last of the summer wine:rolleyes:

I was suprised no one had mentioned him until you did. :p

I would add some that haven't already been mentioned -

Satan from 'The Exorcist'
Jaws (well not a typical villain but my God what a scary creature!)
The Thing
Chucky
The Reaper from 'Jeepers Creepers' (he scared me :o)

Bit off topic, but on Sunday was World Zombie day. In London i dressed up as a zombie skeleton!

But I was really impressed with the creativity of the people there. Especially the guys wearing the "The umbrella corporation" uniforms with half mangled faces!

So as a result I think I'll check out the Resident Evil films.
(yep, played the game, but that was a long time ago!)

Martin Landau in Alone In The Dark.

"The hat. I want the hat".
"Vengeance is mine...sayeth the Lord!"

Not THE greatest but a brilliant villain who never gets mentioned.
