Best Drummer

No... Hendrix is easily the best guitarist ever. He never used a rhythm guitarist and he somehow accomplished the same sound, and if that doesn't make you smile, you best listen to any of the Experience's three excellent albums. He brought so many elements to his guitar, and he though he made his name showboating on it, he was a real compositional genius. There may have been faster players, there may have been more emotional players, but Hendrix really elevated guitar playing beyond the rudimentary basics. There have been so many people to draw their styles off him - Stevie Ray Vaughan and John Mayer come to mind - but none of them, NONE of them could ever match his skill.

I'm not saying this guy is the best drummer, but you have to give this dude some credit for playing with one arm: Rick Allen!

If you are gonna bash banRAB like Nirvana and White Stripes, then judge them by the whole and not the sum of their parts. By your logic, Pink Floyd sucks ass because Nick Mason isnt a virtuoso of any kind, and Jimi Hendrix sucks because Noel Redding isnt a bass god.

Phillips has worked with a crapload of people hasn't he? I know his name from Judas Priest and he's been with Brian Eno and heaps others apparently.

Rosanna scarred me for life:(

Not classical. If you've ever watched a piano concerto you'd know it'd be silly to compare jazz to it. And harpists are the greatest too. Oh and french horns are insanely hard to play, I think the hardest. But yeah, jazz second. Have you ever seen a live performance of a classical-jazz fusion? It's ****ing brill.

if you dont think he is the best drummer, then why are you bitching that he is not in the best drummer thread? by the way, maybe you should check out my post in the favorite groups thread, before you automatically conclude that i only listen to classic rock, durabass
