Best Drummer

I like drum solos as long as they're brief. And again you should at least actually be a really good drummer. Pearts solos are pretty fun actually.

It's when guys like Tommy Lee and Lars Ulrich do it, any drummer that's popular thinks they can do a drum solo, even if they can't actually play the drums, let alone solo.

A little restraint is good, and too many people confuse it with lacking talent. For all we know Meg White could be the most technically proficient drummer in the world, she's just keeping it a secret.
 
oh yeah and terry bozzio is in my list.
i understand why people love portnoy but hes great but is just technical for the sake of technical Dream Theatre just have no soul just awesome players and i dont like any of there songs, sure its played well and they great at what they do but there just crap songs end of story.
about lars poor lars he was never the best of his era not along side dave lorabardo, lars's best work was justice but after that tour he lost it and hes never got it back watch some kind of monster and youll see.
 
seconding this. was trying to decide which to lean towarRAB, but think i'll have to go with bonham. i'm pretty sure he was stomping the high-hat for every beat of every led zeppelin song ever... always thought that was awesome.
 
Exactly. I've seen plenty of musicians with huge drumkits who have little technique and use their enormous set to impress rather than their skills. But drummers like Carey and Peart make great use of their kits. You can't say they don't have any technical skill because they do, and they make use of it via the way they chose to set up their drums.
 
It's not entirely mandatory, but its often a little more interesting if you post a little description or reason why you have chosen a musician / artist.... then we, your fellow posters can better understand your point of view...
 
That's any musician. You could go into any thread in the history of forever (excluding music too) and say that very same thing, exchanging a few worRAB.
 
Of all time? Buddy Rich! For Rock N Roll Ginger Baker. Which BTW was buRAB with Buddy and they played together a lot. Ginger baker was also the first RNR drummer to use the double bass drum.
 
I love Keith Moon. The guy was friggin amazing! It was a tough choice between him and Bonham, though. Bonham was pretty solid.
