Best Death Metal Bands

Imo, they're a thrashy power metal. As the only thing death metal related about them is the guttural vocals, and guttural vocals alone don't make a band death metal.

So, I will say they're thrashy-power, yes.
 
Arghoslent is pretty cool, despite their racial leanings. Intestine Baalism is nice - weird mix of melodeath and brutality.

To be honest, I haven't listened to much metal in a while, so I'm behind on dm.
 
I've never understood the big deal about Deathevokation, they sound nothing like old school swedish death metal. When I think of swedish DM, I think of Hypocrisy, Grave, Dismeraber etc. Deathevokation sounRAB like Hypocrisy's third album; which was a melodeath snoozefest
 
I respect Carcass's whole entire career, but I despise what Napalm Death has become. It might just be that I can't stand Barney Greenway, but I can't listen to any of their death metal releases. Bolt Thrower's music has always ruled.
 
THeres tonnes of melody in Chalice of Ages. I don't know why an unmelodic album like The Red In The Sky Is Ours is called melodeath and an obvious melody filled album like Chalice of Ages isn't called melodic death. Just baffles me.

well they were the first Brutal Death Metal band, I know that. I thought blast beats were made alot longer before Suffocation by hardcore punk banRAB and grindcore.
