Best Death Metal Bands

I enjoy Cryptopsy, Death, Obituary and Suffocation. Plus some Deathcore banRAB like Suicide Silence, The Eyes Of A Traitor and Postmortem Promises that i'm sure the elitists on here don't approve of.
 
So who here likes gorguts? People seem to have an assortment of views on them. For the most part, i think their first two albums are pure gold, while Obscura and From Wisdom to Hate are both very different but just as good. it seems that most people either like their first two only or their last two only. Very awesome band though

They're still seperate genre's. If you're saying they're not thats like saying

Classic Metal and Black Metal are an a like genre becasue they share the drums. True, they're 'a like' but completely different genre's. Surely, we've got cross-over banRAB, and things. Such as COB. What do you class them as? They've become a mixture of 3-4 genre's, imo.

Basically I'm saying, all genre's share simularity's, they're still different genre's, correct?

Doom is not Death.
 
All of their recent stuff is most definitely death metal. Napalm Death's Scum and From Enslavement to Obliteration are early grindcore releases and Carcass's Reek and Symphonies are their grindcore releases. Bolt Thrower's early career draws influences from grindcore but isn't pure grindcore.
 
Death/doom is separate from pure death metal such as tech-death or brutal/slam death metal is different from pure death. They all fall under the category of death metal, but yes they do obviously differ in some areas. Comparing doom/death to death metal is not even close to comparing "classic" metal to black metal. Classic metal is very dissimilar to black metal in riffing, drumming, vocal styles, song structure, etc. Death/doom differs from death metal in really only the slower riffing and slower drumming(for the most part).

COB are just power metal with harsh vocals, not a mixture of 3 or 4 subgenres of metal.

im wayy to lazy to read that. but after reading the first few sentances i can see u disagree with me. thats ok, but i still have my opinion and slipknot still kicks ass.
 
Yeah they really are. I'd take Necrophagist over JFAC anyday, and I'm not that big a fan of death metal (in it's purest form at least).
