Best Band of the 1990s

Soundgarden???? My all-time favorite band. Thier last two albums (superunknown and down on the upside) were perfect. Every song was great.

Also silverchair is one of my favorites from the 90's. It weird, as popular as they were you hardly hear their music on the radio vs nirvana, soundgarden, pearl jam, ect.

i think kill 'em all was big enough. but it makes sense they didnt get all that much respect until later albums since they were only like fucking 16/17 years old when they debuted.

Are you kidding me? Trent Reznor is one of the most innovative and talented musicians of our time. He is one of the first people to integrate electronic music into rock and it actually sound good. Without Nine Inch Nails we wouldnt have a lot of the music we have today.

I've listened to their music and it doesn't sound as great as you tell it. Electronic music isn't what I'd call musicianship, and saying it inspired much of today's music isn't saying much.

I disagree. Trent has done a fantastic job of marrying harsh industrial sounRAB with pop sensibilities (listen to ANY of his songs, they're all written like pop songs). He is a musical genius. Although programming doesn't necessarily take musical talent, what Trent has been able to do with his albums (The Fragile, for example) is nothing short of brilliant.

Still not as good as Radiohead, though.

jeff tweedy really doesn't get the credit he deserves. Every one of wilco's albums is so radically different than the last, but they always have the wilco flavor. It's really quite ingenious.

I'm gonna bring this in a different direction and say Primus. Still one of my favorites today. Janes Addiction should be way up on the list as well. Then you also have Faith No More and, can't forget the Red Hot Chili Peppers. They Might Be Giants are always good. Pearl Jam and Soundgarden. Beck is another contender.

I'm just throwing out other options besides Wilco, Nirvana, Radiohead and NIN.

I never really liked NIN very much. I was more into Skinny Puppy, The Revolting Cocks and Pigface for my industrial itch.

"getting big" doesnt mean making better music...They had a huge underground following...they were plenty popular before "the black album"...and they were a much better band before it too...metallica can go and sue some more fans...fuck lars

To answer the original question....Guns n roses hit the scene in the late 80's and blew up in the 90's...best band ever...too bad they got sober
